Does UKARA cover spud guns in the UK as a spud gun is legally the same as an air rifle which is also covered by the UKARA i believe so does this mean that a spud gun is legal as long as i hold a UKARA?
first post sorry for the ignorance

I'm obviously no expert but every time I heard our (now inactive) UK members talk about airguns they almost always mentioned muzzle energy restrictions.

A spud gun is not an airsoft gun, so I'd say it's extremely unlikely. IANAL, obviously, but given the way things in the UK are going, a spud gun is more likely to get classified by the lads in the penis hats as being an improvised firearm, the sort of thing that could quite feasibly get you 5 years at his majesty's pleasure.
Here's some stuff from the CPS :
https://www.cps.gov.uk/legal-guidance/firearms
Spud guns are not specifically mentioned in there, but by my reading, they certainly class as a "lethal barrelled weapon", and they are almost certainly not covered under any airgun exemptions, unless you're talking about this kind of spud gun :
I'm guessing that's not what you're talking about.

This thread is over a decade old but probably still relevant, UK laws were fairly restrictive then and I doubt they have gotten better in the meantime.

They have got much, much, more restrictive.
For example, anything that could be considered a "blow gun" is a restricted weapon and possession of one could land you up in jail. Think "pea shooter".

What a complete farce.
This event seems to be going strong though, perhaps it's not so bad in practice.

Oh, for sure, realistically it's unlikely that having a pea shooter in your pocket will get you jailed. But always remember that ACAB; if they want you on something, "restricted weapons" are enough to get you arrested under the prevention of terrorism act...
