I hate these ignorant parent cases!

Metered propane is by far the safest fuel for combustions. The reasons for this:

Predictability - we know how powerful the combustion will be and know how the combustion will react.

Consistency - It will fire all the time with out failure. This means that no burnt hair incidents. No guessing how far the ammo will go and how powerful the next firing will be. Most variables are controlled and the gun will preform the same each time.

Power - it is not over powering like other gaseous fuels. (acethylene hydrogen, ect...)

Safety - you are not exposed to the fuel at any time. No risk of fire or exposure to unsafe exhaust chemicals. (like those found in aerosol fuels)
Propane canisters are thick walled to prevent rupture. the same can not be said for aerosol cans.

Propane is only compressed to around 80-120 psi. there is no way with a proper regulator that the pressure could suddenly transfer to your cannon.
even if is somehow magically did, if you use pressure rated pipe, there will be no problem.

btw: tell your mom that flames cannot go back into the propane bottle. if they even got in there nothing will happen, no oxygen.

Just tell her why. Don't sak her to read the paper. Just keep talking and then when she asks you where you got the information show her the paper. The other oprion is to just keep taking until she is tierd of you and lets you do it.

If all else fails just do it and don't tell her what it is.

Yeah Grandparents rule. My Grandpa is a bad influence on me though. He wants me to build what he calls a "super hybrid". Yeah one time he actually said to me "really now, whats the worst that could happen with a 15x mix in abs?" I told him that abs doesn't show up on x-ray but he still wants me to do it.... He used a flame thrower in WWII and I don't think he ever got out of the "I wanna set that guy on fire!!!!   " mentality. I'd never actually try anything near a 15x, but its funny to listen to him rant about how I don't have the balls to do it.
