Here is my first attempt at a spud gun. This Sunday was the first time I had ever even seen one...and after checking it out I thought I could improve upon the design. Its a simple yet very effective gun. 3" to 1.5" chamber to barrel with a Weber ingniter. Any thoughts on safety would be appreciated...especially the valve for fuel entry. It works like a charm, but I wonder if its safe???

add a chamber fan so you cab use the valve to vent and fuel otherwise looks good. welcome to a life long hobby

Im not exactly sure what a chamber fan is for?? I have never had problems with ignition, and I don't over load the chamber with fuel. My wife fancy hair spray "big sexy hair" works like a charm. I did have problems with Aqua net, and right guard?? This gun also has a slightly reverse bevel at the top. It really gives it good seal. The barrel is 24" and the gun is loud, and shoots pretty far. I have not measured the distance but it really zips them out there!!

chamber fans are simply a computer fan put in the chamber to mix the fuel for a more compleate combustion and also they blow ut the smoke so your next shot is just as good because of more oxygen

Thats one of the cool things about the heavy duty ball valve. You can just blow with your mouth and clear out the fumes after your shot, also no more fumbling with a threaded cap after spraying in the fuel. One quick turn and you have sealed in your charge. Hopefully it will hold up long term, and not rupture in my face. Anybody have any history with this type of valve???

Ball valves are definitely safe. The ABS will go long before the ball valve if it ever goes.

Cool first-time cannon. The idea to use a large ball valve in place of a threaded cap is ingenius to me. now to find a ball that will fit on my 3" chamber....

Thanks for safety update. I went to Lowes yesterday for a quick house related visit, and found myself in the plumbing isle far too long looking at parts for cannon number two....what have I gotten myself into!!??

One other quick question. I was thinking about trying one of those Butane bottles used for refills for my charges. Will that be too much for a gun like this, should I stick with hair spray and deodorant??

Well you got yourself into a hobby that's far too fun to get back out of, lawl. Butane should be fine if you want to use it, but it's a little difficult to control the flow out of those bottles.

Very nice first gun. To be honest I haven't built a full-size combustion ever... I built a mini that doesn't fire, though.

Cool...Im glad to hear that butane will be safe. I think I can fit an aerosol top to it for more control...I hope.

What kind of cannon is this i cant tell? its got nice form i mean but is it a pneumatic or combust?
