Three weeks ago I had never seen a potato gun. Two weeks ago I made my first gun. This weekend I made my second gun. This gun is simular to my first design. This too rockets potatos very far with the first click of the Weber igniter. It has a 3" chamber "T" and a 1.5" barrel but this one is longer at 36". It also has a slight reverse bevel so your "ammo" has a nice tight fit every time. What makes this gun special is the attention to the details. The barrel "guard" took forever to make the right way, but was well worth it. The upgraded 3/4" bronze ball valve with custom handle is a nice touch as is the front "sight", but its the killer paint job that makes this gun. Krylon "Fusion" type paint for plastic is the way to go. Even my wife, who is less than thrilled that I spent all day Saturday making my second potato gun in two weeks, was impressed. Thats good enough for me. Good spudding

Thanks for the positive feedback. It is cool to go to Lowes, spend 60$ on materials, and create something from "nothing".

I have two combustions under my belt...I might be tempted to broaden my horizons a little. I just love the simplicity, lack of wires, batteries, etc. with a straight forward combustion. Keep it simple stupid. You could always just try and trick out guns in different ways...this is a very cool new hobby!!

That's a great looking cannon, I wish I was that good at painting

Painting was tricky, especially since I screwed up with the first part of it. I painted the inner barrel before sliding on the modified reducer...had to strip off all the old barrel paint with a little thinner and resand!! It fits so tight that it was a no go over the paint. If you take the extra time to tape off areas well and don't hold the spray paint can too close it can turn out ok. Better to do two thin coats than one thick coat that is going to run all over!

Great paint job. I understant how much work it takes in making a good looking clean gun, and this one is both!
I understand that you are a follower of K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid) so why not try your luck on a pnumatic. They are much more powerful generally, they can have no electrical system or sparker, they also dont require you to carry around cans of airasol<--(spelled wrong)

Thanks again for all the nice words. I think you might be on to something turbohacker, a pneumatic could be very simple, and if I'm not mistaken much more quiet. I think I'm going to make a small combustion over the next couple of days out of leftover parts...kind of challenge myself to see what I can come up with! Then I will have to research the pneumatic option.
