This is my first hybrid allong with being my 5th cannon ever built
- 60.41 cubic inch chamber
- 2" sch.40 steel 12" long
- 1.5" union
- own spark plug design
- camera flash ignition through ignition coil
- off board metering for propane
- manometric air meter
- 1 regulator ( no money haha)
- aluminum can burst disks


Only shot it twice now- 1 at 4x and another at 7x

That is one sweet gun, and the ignition system is pretty tech. Very nice job on your first hybrid. Congrats, it's awesome!

Well well, you apparently got your fueling problems sorted out. I like your modular fuel/air routing network there....very cool!

I assume your shots were dry with no barrel/ammo attached...and I'll bet that was one loud mother.. Your control box, while ghetto-ish, is actually well done.. Nice work.

What are your plans for shooting? mounting? ammo?

Yea i was hiding behind a very large snow plow when i fired it both times so i could here the shot but it wasnt as loud as holding it. I did tape an empty pop can on the end of it and it turned it inside out and ripped it to shreds. I plan on getting a 1" barrel for batteries, 1.5 to make potato salad. I dont think I'm going to mount it on a board just yet.

that looks sweet, could you please go into details on your sparkplug?

ps. I am pretty sure you are using volumetric metering, not manometric metering.

for the spark plug i took a 1/2" bushing to a 3/8 .
-Drill out a hole so that spark plug will fit into the bushing by barely twisting it. I dont know what drill bit i used sorry. But if the spark plug fits snugly perfect.
-Place the bushing on a flat board.
-Now fill it with high strength epoxy.
-Tape off the tip of the spark plug to protect the rod and end from the epoxy. Now shove the spark plug through bushing and twist it in.
-Now hold it until the epoxy settles.
-Wait till fully cured and your done.

This is any extremely easy way to do it. Now attach wires to metal chamber and top of spark plug and your good to go !

The propane part of the meter is volumemetric but for the air i set the regulator to the X amount of bar and plug it directly into the chamber. That is what i understand to be manometric metering. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Nice job on the spark plug. It actually wouldn't hurt to do a separate topic on your spark plug bushing. I know it's not really that difficult but would make a solid How-To entry.

How are you connecting the chassis HV lead from the coil to the gun? It looks like you have a female spade terminal on the wire...where is the male counterpart and how did you mount it?

CK, you would like the ghetto ignition box wouldn't you...?.. This a good example of how to do ghetto without it being "ghetto". Notice the critical parts that can blow up aren't ghetto and the ignition circuit in the box is actually well laid out and solid.

Edit @ trigun: OK the coat hanger is I'm sure working but a little dubious. If you already dont have further plans for it, try finding a way to tap or weld a screw somewhere on the chassis and build a decent place to attach that connection...and insulate that spark plug connection from human touch with a spark plug boot.

Thanks for the comments starman. Ckman that is very funny . Yea the soldering was a pain in the butt wouldn't stick then i came up with gator clips made things so much easier.

Cool gun, especially the metering system. Good to see people taking more safety precautions than I guess..Maggotman? (Signature...again)

thanks, I thought you actually tapped a hole for the sparkplug and screwed it in, but JB weld works just as well.

How high of a mix do you intend to take it to?
