My First Hybrid

Well after building many combustions and pneumatics i decided to venture into the hybrids. All the launcher is built out of galvanized iron and i plan to take it up to about 5x max due to the camlock coupler having a 250 psi working limit. I plan on shoulder firing it when i find a large bore barrel that will handle a 5x mix. I was looking into abs but all i can find is dwv are there any other suggestions? The chamber is about 24" long and i will be using a bbq ignitor for ignition through a homemade spark plug. All questions, concerns or improvement are welcome! :D

To the best of my knowledge DWV ABS was used for SB15's and MrCrowley's piston hybrids, also DYI used it in his 2 inch 500 PSI pneumatic.

For a spark plug can I recommend this

Good to see another hybrid.

For a spark plug go out and get a NGK CR10EK, it has 1/8'' npt threads.

MrCrowley used pressure rated pipe idk if it was abs for a barrel and SB15 used solid core abs as his barrel.

Yes, don't use DWV.

SB15 used DWV ABS, I used PN15 rated (or maybe 12?) ABS and DYI used DWV ABS surrounded by fiberglass or an epoxy resin or something like that, the point is that his barrel was heavily reinforced.

Looking good though, would love to see some videos. Don't be afraid of taking it up to a 10x mix either :)

Thanks for all the replys! I plan on making a hubb style spark plug like Zeus recommended as for the barrel I really want to get 1 1/2" copper but that is over $50 for a 10 foot section  so I might try sleeving abs or possibly aluminium if i can find a piece cheap. What would be a good barrel length at 1 1/2" bore diameter and what about 2"?

10x really? you would trust the camlock at nearly a 1000 psi?

You can probably use (steel) electrical conduit for the barrel, as SB15 and I told Crowley in the past. 10 feet will run you... $20 max? You'll have to get creative when attaching it to your camlocks though.

I've never used camlocks before so I couldn't tell you about their safety factor. Do some remote-fire testing first to check for defects, obviously.

I would like to keep the launcher handheld and a 6' long steel barrel would make it quite heavy so im going to try to sleeve abs for now and do some remote test fires
