Idea for a pure hybrid.

Harness the power of precision mixtures of pressurized flammable vapor. Safety first! These are advanced potato guns - not for the beginner.

Hello, this is my first post on this site.
I am not new to building potatoe canons having built several combustion ones before. But I am about to embark on a new adventure with a rather unusual hybrid (at least from what I've seen)
I will build it from scd10 to 160(if necessary) all stainless steel all Tig welded of course. I don't have much in terms of fully laid out plans ie. dimensions and volumes but It will probably be no more than 10ft long total. I'm thinking burst disk to start but I would like to use pure GOx (gaseous O2) for my oxidizer and probably butane or propane fuel. The purpose of using GOx instead of air is for 4x fuel per bar. So I believe that using, just say for example a 2x set up with GOx would actually be 8x the fuel (with enough oxygen to burn completely) while still only being at 2x. Or a 10x pressure with 40x fuel. Please correct me if I'm wrong. But this makes several things easier like spark ignition from a tazer or more likely an ignition coil or containing pressure. At the moment I'm just laying the foundations and will start building soon.

Now before all I get for replies are bashing about using something as dangerous as using GOx instead of air for an oxidizer. I am fully aware of how to handle it and safe use. (Eg LOx clean). I have access to and work with LOx everyday, along with a clean room and large ultra sonic cleaners. I work in a R&D departement for liquid fueled rockets sub 100klbs thrust.

So what I'm hoping for is for useful feedback and or ideas to consider while I build this to make this as awesome as I think it could be.

Ps if some one has done this before please point me to it. I've looked and come up short.

If you know what you're doing, no issues with using pure oxygen.

It is debatable though whether a 20% propane and 80% oxygen mix at atmospheric pressure will give you the same power as a 4% propane and 96% air mixture at 4 bar.

Here's an oxy-acetylene device at atmospheric pressure that might be of some inspirtation: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/viewtop ... tml#366834
