In physics class today I was reading nuclear physics and came across the term of cloud chamber and automatically it clicked of BBMG. If people haven't already known I think a cloud chamber was where electrons bounce randomly and fly out some sort of tube into nuclear fission producing energy (I'm guessing, but really I don't know why I did physics since I got a D for it).

And made me curious in wondering who made the very first Cloud BBMG, google didn't work so I'm asking you guys.

And who came up with the concept of the vortex BBMG. I'm just really curious because whoever came up with such a good idea should be applauded for :D.

Edit: To prevent creating a new topic, I've rechanged this "Sprinkler Valve - Who Invented...

It's Nerf or Nothing.

Don't start crying when I play this as my hobby, Paintball, Airsoft and Nerf are equally good hobbies, except you can play Nerf in public. Good day! Hmph!

I do believe this question (or similar) was asked not too long ago. The first one, that I recall, had a chamber under the actual barrel. I can't remeber who it was. Then, I think Neospud may have refined it into what we know of today.

The idea of having spherical projectiles in a chamber agitated by a constant gas flow is at least 30 years old, and that patent became a viable commercial venture.

The idea of the "Strafer" was revived by these guys a few years ago and reverse engineered by a prominent early member of this forum whose name escapes me.

Cool thanks for the info...

Funny how they used Diclorofluromethane as a propellant and didn't know that they were screwing up the ozone layer. The gun looks pretty cool the one that looks likle the first cloud made.

So the minigun was a vortex / bbmg too? Pretty cool.

Not sure about the rotary MGs but the Strafers shown here are vortex block BBMGs.

I think it was spudsonfire off spudtech - except the vortex wasn't quite the same as the PPP BBMGs. The vortex was similar, but different - and pretty clever.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

I searched the spudtech archive:

When searching for cloud, it gives 77 pages of results mostly containing stuff about gas clouds or vapors. When searching for cloud with excluding alot keyworks like smoke and vapor, the oldest result was

The vortex gun made by spudsonfire.
Till the day I'm dieing, I'll keep them spuddies flying, 'cause I can!

To prevent making a new topic, who first modded a sprinkler valve the way we know it?

I shall change the topic title of this for you :)... It'll draw more attention :D. Oh yeah I don't know who invented the sprinkler valve... I'm only into airsoft type cannons <,<

Not who invented the sprinkler valve but who first pneumatically modded a sprinkler valve for a spudding purpose is what he means.

It'd be a bit hard to say considering other valves which are almost identical in operation have been actuated pneumatically for years. So no one 'invented' the modded sprinkler valve, they just borrowed the idea from commercial valves.

Who cares?

You could probably check the SpudTech Archives (the OLD Spudtech archives on Network54) though.

Perhaps littlebro5 is compiling data in order to author the first edition of "A history of high velocity potatoes" :D

Not quite. A cloud chamber is a chamber containing a super saturated gas, meaning the gas should condense to form clouds but it doesn't.

When a high energy particle enters the chamber it triggers condensation along the particle's flight path. The tiny droplets of liquid allow the user to "see" the flight path of the particle.

Usually a cloud chamber is used to visualize cosmic rays and other naturally occuring radiation though they can be used with a radiation point source.

If the chamber is placed in a magnetic or electric field then the charge and mass of the atomic particle can be determeined based on how the track curves.
