- this is the mechanism in the open (firing) position, you can see the "bolt return line" filling with air

The "bolt return line" is a waste of air, why not just use a spring?

Your diagram is a little unclear, leave out color when its not nessasary...

JSR, shoulda mentioned but i'm going for full auto do you think this would cycle? maybe i should just scrap the idea, i know how everyone fells about spoonfeeding but maybe you could just save me some prototyping and point me in the direction of a good auto bolt design ::worthy:: [/quote]

The blow forward bolt can be made to cycle alone, have a look at this - but in my experience, this happens at a cycling rate so high that feeding ammunition is practcally impossible, not to mention the fiddliness of tuning the system. The bolt has to be combined with some sort of valve which "pulses" the air supply in order to be successful.suture self wrote:maybe you could just save me some prototyping and point me in the direction of a good auto bolt design
From what I've seen, the way this can be achieved without including some sort of externally powered electric/mechanical system is either using a pop-off piloted piston, or a pop-off valve directly, looks like you have some more research to do
