You don't have to buy PVC rod in 10 foot lengths...Whoever said to use PVC rod, that's a huge waste of money, considering you only need like 1 or 2 inches and you have to buy it in 10 foot lengths.

Many places sell PVC by the foot, noname.
Also, bondo is a very cheap material to work with. a $20 tub will last the average hobbiest for nearly a year, maybe longer, and has countless aplications. Handy to have around if your car gets dinged as well
