Bubba, I shot a squirrel from about 10 ft. away(let him get close)with my .410 shotgun.That little bugger flew back about 20 ft. and bounced straight up in the air another 10.I was amazed that all that happened, hilarious in a morbid way.
The pigs around here tend to destroy the marshes.The pirates way back when actually put them on islands as resupplies when they were cruising the coast. I guess they didn't know pigs swim very well cause they spread out everywhere.Now we have to cull them because they kill out all the other species. Pork, its whats for dinner!

Well to be back on topic.
Jack,how good are the high powered air rifles? I was looking at them and I don't know if I want to drop that much for an air rifle.Especially when I can buy a .22.What do you think?

Mate air riffle's have there aplications and so do .22's. What where you thinking of doing with eather weopon?
Air riffels are great for practice as they dont make much noise. But the again so are .22's the differance being power. .22 can knock something like a ferral dog or cat over but an air riffle.....has to be one hell of a good shot or your just gunna really piss off what ever your shooting at.

You're right there, a 22 rimfire is a better idea. No charging equipment, no SCUBA tank to lug around, all you need is a pocketful of cartridges. With a decent silencer (assuming it was legal in your area) a rimfire is actually quieter than a high powered air rifle.

What I like about my Daystate is that the power has 16 electronic power settings, living in an urban area it convenient for me, but I suppose with a rimfire you could always use shorts if you wanted to do some indoor/back garder plinking. For the price of a decent air rifle, you'll get an excellent rimfire, so yeah, save your money

I live in the country with 12000 acres of woods on three sides of me.So noise isn't an issue,although nobody would even care about a silencer .Besides the cops I mainly go plinking or shooting critters.
Looks like I'll go with a .22,my dad has an old marlin I borrow from time to time but I'd rather have my own.I'm one of those odd cases of a kid that went from shooting BB guns to shooting high powered rifles.I never hit the rimfire stage(no pun intended)

The Marlin ,if it is the gun I think it is, is a cool gun aside from the fact Quote of the owner of one "it is a really good rifle but it jams alot.". The first time I ever went shooting I got to shoot one of those.

The only gun I have is a Savage 110FP with a skeleton stock.

Damn thats strick i have my own shot gun and in only 13! US of A rules!
Also ive had a pellet gun since i was 7.

Are you can get a shotgun at the age of 12 in australia (wih an A class license.)
And to own an airgun you have to have an A Class firearms license and for an air pistol you need an H Class Firearms license. Airsoft guns fall into the A class as well.I am hoping to try for A class in a few months.

or ask them to take you for a look down at the local rifle club and see if you can convince them to let you join.The person behind the counter should help you in the argument and tell your parents that owning and firing a firearm teaches responsibility and brings out maturity. 8)
