no problem, the vortex cap is simply turned so that the opening of the cap is facing up.

EDIT: Sorry for the double-post. In the future I will edit my original post.
i dont have a diagram, but i think i know how he did it, he had two 90*elbows on the cap, which led to it coming out the same direction of the cap, then a third elbow was placed on that one, but turned so that the cap was facing the direction of the barrel. just thinking about it

nope, only 1 elbow and it is on the magazine. It just goes straight down to the vortex cap which is turned on its side.

yea I thought that the vortex cap wouldnt work on its side.....

why not?
lol just because vortex blocks have always been built vertically doesnt mean they cant be placed on their side.
My whole way of designing things is to throw out the rule "this is the way its always been done, this is the way it has to be."
Throwing out that rule, opens up a lot of possibilities.

well this helps alot in my new bbmg. I didnt want a big magazine sticking out the side. lol.
