some of you may remember my post about a vortex pistol i planned on making <a href="http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/possibl ... html">here is the thread about it</a>.... anyway i made it but it seems as though the co2 air duster just doesn't have the power to move the bbs. so i need a new air source preferably a cheap and small one that can fit in the grip of a pistol. i know its working becuase using only my breath i can shoot a nice stream of bbs about 20-30ft which means the only possible problem could be the duster. i do happen to have a green gas chamber and hammer valve from an old airsoft pistol but i don't know if has enough flow rate. i can post pictures of the green gas stuff if someone believes they can determine if it will work or not. i have already taken pictures of the chamber for everyone to see

so i need a small portable air source that could fit in a pistol grip or something close to that, any ideas???

edit : the block is made from 12mm layered Lexan with a 1" half hole drilled in it, the barrel is a 6.08mm aluminum barrel i took from an old spring shotgun and sawed down to about 120mm. the vortex chamber it self is about 22cm of 1" pipe with a 1" male threaded adapter on one side and a 1" cap on the other... just in case you were wondering (build time 2 hours)

I dont think the green gas (propane) will cut it. Maybe you could attach a small C02 remote kit and regulator to it and have the CO2 tank strapped on the gun with hose clamps or tie downs.

that would make the gun a bit bigger than i wanted it to be... this is suppose to be my secondary, for when my big vortex gun (or AEG sniper thing) jams/ runs out of ammo and theres people chasing after me. the i was hopping for a small pistol sized gun (but i would settle for mp5k/uzi sized gun) you know side arm sized. im already caring a 5lb co2 tank on my back most of the time and i was kinda hoping on not having to run it off the big tank because i would have to worry about the hose then.

Couldn't you bore out parts of the CO2 duster to improve the flow rate a little?

You could try using a 12-gram tire filler. you would use a lot of cartridges though.

Use one of these on the bottom of your gun, it is disposible, readilly availible, and small. I also think it would last plenty long for your particular gun. (problobly a couple of chainbers full)

origin unknown - sadly i cannot the biggest bottle neck is the part that actually punctures the 12 gram if i were to bore it out even a little more it would weaken it serverly

mopherman - im using a 12 gram air duster there basically the same thing and run off the same cartridges

turbohacker - any idea what type of thread that is, or where i could get an adapter for those things. also what type of gun uses those?

The 12g tire filler might have a slightly better flow than the duster based on the fact that both were built for different purposes. You would most likely want to dump the canister faster to fill a tire but you would like to conserve the CO2 by restricting the flow for a duster. It wouldn't hurt to try... well maybe a few $ but thats all you would lose.

you'll need some new c02 fill system, did you see if the tube is having trouble bent, or your cartridge is low

This is used for low buget paintball guns (walmart specials )

They can be baught at many large department stores as well as paintball shops. Here is the only adapter I could find, however I have seen people drill a hole in the side and tap ordinary pipe threads into them.

The only problom with this idea is that you would have to incorperate a regulator into your design because I doubt your blow gun will handle over a thousand PSI.

EDIT: These CO2 tanks are also used for air rifles.

make a custom green gas/propane chamber and connect that to a blowgun.

i have a real green gas chamber and a hammer valve sitting on my desk right now, think i should try it? i could easily mod the hammer valve to be a realistic trigger... i just wasn't sure if the gas consumption would like super cool the green gas chamber.

You should try using the co2 tanks that turbohacker suggested, I think they are four ounce tanks. (They are also used for bb guns.)

Yea, those 88g things would work for you I think. They aren't obscenely large, and they're fairly cheap, last time I checked Wal-Mart had them.

The green gas chambers from gas pistols dont even last but a second when they are discharged. My first pneumatic cannon was a piece of 1/2" pvc, some cardboard, and a clip that I used interchangably from my gas gun. I would discharge the green gas and shoot a sabot loaded with BB pellets which proved to be an effective weapon in a backyard airsoft game I played.
