I saw JSR's electro-pneumatic gun and some of is cam gun designs, and they inspired me to design this:

Just open the ball valve, and pull the trigger, pretty simple.
The only part that concerns me is the barrel flying out, but I could fix that by putting a lip on the inside and outside of the trigger mechanism(springy thingie) to keep it together. Any thoughts/suggestions?

i dont know what the spring does, but i dont think it will work after the first shot. i just dont think the bb's will feed.

only problem is that air will go out the barrel when the ball valve is open but your not firing it.

Try orienting the air supply so that it also comes from the top, like the bbs, and is sealed off the same way as the ammo. That way, when you pull the trigger, the sets of holes for the ammo and air align, and it only THEN releases air and bbs. BTW with what I just told you, NO ball valve needed, but getting it to seal will be a pain.
@hi: The spring is just to return the trigger to a non-firing position.

Wouldn't some of the air rush up into your breech causing the ammo to not gravity feed?

I agree with gwoloshyn.
the air will push the bbs back up into the hopper. :?
you need some sort of spring feed magazine to force them down

I could just flip the magazine to the bottom and make it spring fed.
And thats a very good idea windshrike.

Here's the semi-final designs incorporating what windshrike and battlemonkey said:

I just realized, I'm all design and no action(and no money). I have designs for about 7 guns, and I've only built one.

Sorry to bump this, I've got a year's worth of catching up to do.

Did you build this? If not can I suggest a simple alteration that'll make hopper feeding work fine to the side feed air system?

At the moment in yours the air and bb feed holes line up at the same time, so there's the risk that the air might blow the bb back into the hopper (don't see if myself I'd have thought that fast flowing air moving over the bb would pull it down but then again).

Change the system so that the holes don't line up, you pull your trigger back to the first stage and a bb drops into your barrel. Pull it back further and the air holes line up and the gun fires.

If you wanted to be fancy get yourself two trigger return springs, one half the length of the other, so that you could actually feel the difference.

Beautifully simple design though, I love it.
