im picking up the parts today.
the gun will be made out of pvc and somewhat resemble a tippmann 98 paintball gun
i hope to in the near future pick up an air rig that includes an hpa tank and palmers pursuit regulator
also i want to ask if anybody has tried making a hopup for their guns? im thinking, cut a groove in the top of the barrel about an inch from where the bb's will first enter the barrel. and put an O-ring, teflon tape the O-ring airtight. and maybe even epoxy it over, i presume this will give the gun a slower ROF but put a backspin on them so they go further.
thanks
let me know what everybody thinks

wooo its my hop-up thread
i think what came out of it is that hop-up needs to be tune-able because otherwise you could end-up with too much or too little. but what i am planning on my 6mm 'sniper' is to cut into the top of the barrel and put an o-ring on top of the slit so it is poking slightly into the barrel, this should give a small amount of hop-up and have the added bonuses of stopping the bbs rolling out of the barrel and it will increase accuracy because it will give consisten spin wheras with a non-airsoft barrel like the one i am using if it is slightly bent and has imperfections this can cause spin to be put on the bb which will be inconsistent and unpredictable.

ok i got my stuff together! got all my pipe and caps and everything.
ill be building it on Friday or Saturday.
its 1 1/2 inch ABS pipe and maybe about 18 inches long.
does anybody think i should cut it shorter? or just leave it at this length? and what PSI does everybody think i'll need to run it good?
thanks

You only need about 6" for a cloud, with it that big you'll have poor performance. Probably at least 70psi, I usually run mine at 80psi-90psi.

lol deeng, im way off then.. so that means i need to buy a hacksaw and take off more than half?
im going to be using an old stock tokyo marui M4 inner barrel thats maybe about a foot long or little bit over.
what kind of fps do you think i can get from it?
having, 1 1/2 inch pipe reduced to 6 inches and that barrel?

Yes.

As long as it is a good fit it should be fine though I would recommend a longer barrel.
asianinvasion07 wrote:what kind of fps do you think i can get from it?
No idea, you could get a lot more if you have a big air compressor regulated at 115psi and maybe a 2'+ barrel.
asianinvasion07 wrote:having, 1 1/2 inch pipe reduced to 6 inches and that barrel?
Sprechen Sie Englisch?
1 1/2" Pipe 6" long and a 1' long 6mm barrel should be fine, though like I said it could be better. What air source are you using and what PSI can it go up to?

my air source is going to be a C02 or if i have the money, HPA, Paintball tank with a palmers regulator and of course air hose, then a blowgun.
i guess ill be running c02 mostly because c02 is cheaper.
and id like to have the barrel longer, but im gonna be skirmishing with it just for fun
so i cant have the barrel too long, it might get knocked off on a corner or something
i plan to go maybe 100 psi. with a 20 oz c02 tank
i forget the limit on that regulator... i dunno. more than i need though
sorry for my spelling, i type fast (or at least attempt to... haha) and sometimes abbreviate and miss things
how much would a good compressor cost me?

Probably $60US max for a 5gallon, 115psi compressor.
With the CO2 if you regulated it to maybe 120psi you could have a bigger chamber with more BB's but it's not really that necessary.

hm, the compressor sounds good, but i live in an apartment. haha. theres really nowhere for me to run a compressor. unless i wanna die from carbon monoxide.. which i dont....lol
eh i guess ill just cut the chamber a little bit more, since more than a foot does seem pretty big. the response time from pressing the trigger and seeing bb's come out would be a big gap.
i might leave it at a foot or so in length.
