I don't think there has been somthing posted on this before but what would be better to use for a cloud a vortex block or NUKEWARHEADSCIENTISTS way of making a slight constriction that the bb seals into and then pressure builds up and then releases here is a link

They are the same thing I just wanted to show the slight restriction I was talking about

The stuck bb will hold presure wich might improve power.
So it would sound as a good idea.


But I can imagine a problem.

When BB #1 has bursted through the constriction it will accelerate in the barrel. Now BB #2 gets sucked into the constriction, blocking the flow and thus reducing BB #1's acceleration.

there would still be exspanding gas behind bb #1 the air would just be cut off and maybe bb #1 would escape out the barrel before bb #2 even gets stuck in the restriction because of the increased speed of the bb because of the restriction yeah I'm a half glass full kind of guy

Actually this technique has been discussed before.

It does work though it is kind of tricky to control and the piece of tubing tends to wears out pretty quickly. The ROF goes way down (which is OK), the velocity goes up pretty substantially.

Here is the basic idea from about 2.5 years ago.

So Jimmy are you saying that a vortex would be better?for wear and tear? I'm definetly concidering making a cloud useing that tecnique because I don't want to lose 2000 bb in 5 seconds right so why use a regular cloud or vortex and if the power is there then I will definanty make a cloud like this.

No, the wear and tear has nothing to do with whether it is a cloud or a vortex. The wear is just the abrasion of the tubing caused by the BBs.

The one I built was a cloud design.

well I was won dering if the regular vortex would be better then the moded cloud for wear and tear do you think I could power ether of those with a fire exstinguisher I already have a fire exstinguisher and it has a tire valve in the bottom to fill it.

^^ depends what you would descibe as real power... for a small bore i woul say the power of a Barrett M82A1 is pretty reasonable

oh and did you ever make that design JSR? or is it one of your many untested ideas?

I think I would rather stick to the cloud powered by a fire exstingusher although that would have more power it's just that I cant find a ball valve to fit on the pipe that I am going to use as a barrel

... as you can see from that old thread a mechanical auto has been a loooong time coming!

How small (in diameter) do you think the bb reservoir should be for most efficiency? The first picture is the exstingusher compared to a vitare non-alchoholic wine bottle no I'm not advertising andthe second is the tank in my hand.
P.S. I think that you would be able to screw in a 3/4 inch male adapter into the threads if you are wondering and which would be better for putting air into the bb reservoir a blowgun or a mini ballvalve?

Except for all of the air that sneaks past in the large time it takes you to open the ball valve...
