Ok i've found this a while ago but couldnt work were it goes, so i chucked in here. This is an online petition which needs alot more exposure and a lot more signatures, please take the time to sign whether you are from australia or not. I think this is run by Airsoft Australia who are the main people involved in trying to get airsoft back to australia. It would mean a lot to us Aussies if every one where to sign it from spudfiles and for airsoft to come to us, after all it is only one of the most popular sports atm.
Thanks

True, I don't think it should be banned anywhere, it's actually pretty harmless as long as you wear adequate eye protection.

yes i hope we can im pretty sure they said something about it becoming legal in december this year or early january next year. going by our governtment i think its going to take at least another full year and a half or so. which is even worse i know but hey if i could have a full on convosation i would with Mr Rud.
another good about airsoft as i have also posted on the airsoft australia site is that " Airsoft would be great for all the people livivng up in qld, because of there cain toad infestation, if every child over say 15 or 16 was to have a decent powered airsoft gun they could rid them selves free of the cain toads very rapidly.

The main hurdle in getting airsoft into Australia is that the guns look too real, as such a kid with an airsoft pistol could be charged with having a imitation gun, as even something that looks like a gun can get you into trouble. I don't know how other toy gun makers get around this problem.
About 12 years ago my cousins boyfriend brandished a water pistol at a guy that was harrasing him and his girl, pity that the little wimp (he cried like a baby btw) was a policemans son.
As a result he was charged with "assault with a deadly weapon".
We have a bunch of asshats that run this country and love to make sure that all the fun stuff is banned and made illegal.
I signed but i can't see airsoft coming back to Oz, i would love to be proven otherwise though.

In the USA, ALL airsoft guns have a orange tip i believe. This is to distinguish the difference between a real and a airsoft.
If you remove that tip or change it, then you are charged with aome sort of felony i think. not sure though.

One of my friends was arrested and fined about $700 for having a scaled down toy AK-47 out his window in his car last Australia day pretending to shoot me...Rough laws hey...
I have signed this petition a couple of months back and when you think about it,do you really think it's going to make a difference? You could have 100,000 people sign it then all you would need is one person to be harmed by an Airsoft gun in some other country and our Government would over react and cover every living thing in bubble wrap and make Airsoft public enemy number one like a game for budding killers etc...Does this sound a bit farfetched for our Government?I think not if you look close enough...

with this petition and various other tactics they have got a review of the current banning of airsoft already
