New AEG Design

Anyway from my previous post on Hi-Cap magazines, I'm going to attempt to make an LPEG. It's basically how a normal AEG works but with a different plunger-piston design. The piston chamber is slightly different from one in an AEG but more simpler to build from parts bought at RC stores, hardware stores, etc. I'm from Aussieland
, so I would buy my own LPEG but can't for obvious reasons
The Materials I think i probably need are...
$10 - 12V gear box (from RC stores)
$5 - 7cm length 1.5cm diametre spring
$6 - Toy MP5 Navy (not to scale)
$1 - O- Rings
$3 - Piston chamber
$5 - aluminium tube
$1 - Pen spring (for spring magazine)
$2 - (some sort of 6mm tube that can be bendy)
$10 - aluminium gears
$2 - Battery holder
Total - $43'ish lol couldn't be bothered counting properly
The Plans I drew with MSPaint isn't to shabby imo lolol
Basically the same principal as this design on wiki...
The same concept, different design. The plunger-piston and piston chamber is probably easier to build with this design. I've also included the part where there is another tube inside the main barrel so the bb doesn't fall out. The most annoying part of this gun probably piecing the bits and pieces together though
. Any opinion on this?

Well, it seems that it will work, but make sure your spring is strong enough, and that you motor is strong enough to pull that spring.

How are you going to load BBs into the breech though? Airsoft guns have an extra part in the cycle that pulls back the whole piston about 2 centimeters, which moves back the air nozzle then pushes it forward again, giving a brief second for 1 bb to load through the breach. It's hard to explain through text, but it is shown on the animated diagram you posted.

looks easy enough!
should be done with good enough precision work (unless you want it to weigh 50 lbs).
As for the spring, that sucker has to be very strong but that's not a problem. I would suggest making your own spring from a 1/16" steel rod.

Well, this is the best i can explain this to you Kash, the thing about the AEG plans that i designed, when the piston hits that "dark blue" upside down L thing, the breach moves backwards and loads a bb into the barrel and when the gears run out of the teeth the upside down L thing pushes the breach forward with the bb inside the barrel (there's goign to be some sort of suspension to recock the breach.
It's the best I can explain it... just compare the two you'll understand. It's pretty straight forward. The good thing i thing about the design I took from the .gif diagram is that the bb is only loaded when the main piston is pulled all the way back, use common sense and you'll get what I mean

Well I'm designing an LPEG so I'm not going to make the spring super strong and like you said it's not a problem. I'm going to be buying a 7cm spring and diametre of 1.5cm. The piston design i've thought of is advantageous for me because the spring doesn't have to be super long. because the spring is in the piston chamber itself so when the spring becomes compressed... there's no chance of the spring flicking out inside the gun if u know what i mean.
The piston will be something like that just with teeth for the gears. Got it from boltsniper.com a nerf gun site.
I've also thought of an easier "Mid-cap" design... i'll have 3 tubes in the magazine compartment. one tube will be linked to the breach and the others will be hid away in the "storage" compartment. So in the middle of the fight reloading will be more easier

Ah I see now littlebro... when the back of the plunger shaft hits it... thanks for clearing that up. I want to stay updated on this, I love these kinds of things. Good luck 8)
