Evil detonator reg

Ok, i found this
evil detonator regulator for a good price but I am not sure about 2 things-
1- does a Co2 (or HPA i believe) tank screw directly into the regualtor, or is another attachment needed?
2- what kind of threads are on the output?

its designed for a paintball gun, the top threaded bit screws into the gun and the bottom takes a threaded fitting, 1/8" i think.

unfortunately, that didn't answer either of my questions.
I know the bottom is the input, but does a Co2 tank screw in directly or do I need an adaptor?
Also, what size are the threads that screw into the gun (output)

if you see my above post... the input threads are 1/8" i think... as for the top, 3/8" i.e. ASA size would be a good guess... but just a guess.

so I could do this:
20oz co2 tank -> evil detonator reg -> ASA x 1/8" npt adaptor -> then whatever setup of air hose/quick disconnect

well an ASA, which is the thing usually on the bottom of the paintball gun grip... you can buy them... i would drop BtB a PM as he used a paintball CO2 tank on one of his BBMGs... so he may be able to help with connections etc.

1. No, the input threads are 1/8" so you would need to get a universal ASA or on/off ASA and a section of 1/8" steel pipe to connect the the detonator to the tank. While a little more expensive, I would get a Remote line (heavy), remove the quick disconnect, and screw it directly into the regulator. The remote line will help prevent liquid Co2 from getting in the valve since Liquid Co2 will ruin it (works well when tank is vertical).
2. The threads on the output are for an ASA. ASA threads are essentially 1/2" in size but the threads are different. You will need a universal ASA to connect and that will output into a usable 1/8" pipe threads.
The Evil Detonator is a decent regulator but if you set the pressure for 100PSI when the tank is at normal pressure, if you use a large volume of Co2, the tank will cool down and loose pressure. That loss of pressure to the regulator will result in a lower output pressure say down to 60PSI (depends on how cold the tank gets). Once the tanks warms back up, you will get the 100PSI you set it at.
My knowledge comes from that I been paintballing for almost a decade and have built multiple regulated Co2 systems off Detonators.

HPA 1st stage regulators and CO2 bottles use a 1/2" XXX thread, the regulator imput is a 1/8" NTP thread.
I'm confused about thread type and as to why the 1st stage regulator is called an ASA.
The bottle and regulator 1/2" threads even work with brass fittings for copper pipe but the O-ring often doesn't seal with the inside of the fitting so telfon tape will be needed to prevent leaks (on the 850psi side anyway).

The output on the Co2 and HPA tanks are 1/2" but the threads are a little different from standard pipe threads. I recommend getting an ASA for a proper thread match to avoid disasters when dealing with high pressure.
