Hey all- I was just wondering if a combustion grenade launcher would be legal in paintball? Assume a safe velocity, are there any rules of formal events that would prohibit a combustion?x

The Tippmann C3 and probably other guns by now use combustion to power their shots, so I think it is probably legal. The only real way to find out is by asking the field you go to if it's alright with them.

All depends on field rules. Search around the forum there are many similar topics the general consensus how ever is no.

If it's your property then go ahead. Just make sure the opposing team doesn't have anything against it. If anyone has problems with it then don't use it.

Yea I've been trying to build a really small pneumatic one but haven't been able to make it like I really want it and I could do it in combustion much easier. I'll proly still work on a pneumatic one tho

It wouldn't be hard to make a good inline grenade launcher using a Toolie piston valve. That would work extremely well actually.

That's what i've been trying just have had a hard time getting a seal inside the steel chamber. Perhaps I'll have to dig this project up again

If you make the whole gun out of steel except use a threaded brass or aluminum fitting as a sealing face, it should work well. Why does it need to be steel in the first place?

For use with co2. Maybe I'll try PVC

some Airsoft fields are not allowing launchers made out of PVC even at 100psi because they are afraid PVC cant handle any pressure. Even though PVC can handle the pressure, they are kind of ignorant and don't believe you when you show them the pressure rating. Now I realized I said Airsoft Fields, but a lot of the safety rules are the same.
The best bet is to contact the fields you are most likely going to and see what their rules are...

i would call that being synical not ignorant , anyway so why would a discussion about a combustion paintball grenade launcher be in the airsoft/BB section

Because this is generally regarded as the forum for paintball stuff as well as airsoft- and the question was about rules of paintball not about the launcher itself
