Airsoft Strafter

I just traded my Automatic Electric Gun, for a gas rifle. It is coming with a C02 setup, so I can use CO2 instead of propane. I want to try using the gas setup to try making an airsoft strafter. I like the concept of a vortex strafter more than the cloud (no I don't really care if I have to rebuild the vortex block/chamber thing every once in a while), so that is what I am planning on doing. I was wondering if there was a trick to getting the barrel straight, so I can aim correctly? (and does anyone have any suggestions?)

edit: I just went to home depot and bought a blowgun. What kind of adaptor or thing do I need to hook it up. I will have (in about a week) a CO2 bottle, regulator, and a hose setup for a paintball gun. Do I need a speacial adaptor for it?

why would u say that benny

Why? Because it's more reliable than a vortex. Vortex guns can jam to all hell if you don't make them properly. Clouds, although they use more air, are more reliable.

The reason I'm making a vortex is I don't so much need reliability (as this would be a secondary) as gas conservation (I'm trying to use the same gas setup for two different weapons). If it jams, I'd just go back to my rifle, or use my backup pistol.

Don't use co2 with pvc, it will become brittle and break.

1. The exception to this rule is for proper use of legal airsoft and/or paintball markers.
Any further discussion of the gun being used in Airsoft will result in the topic being locked, and possibly further action will be delt by PCGUY. Have you seen the video of the strafer chopping a 2x4 in half? Trust me, this wont just allow you to have a edge, rather you could seriously kill someone. The bb's would penetrate the persons skin and just as easy breach any other protection such as googles taking someones eye ball out. If you feel so inclined to build something for air-soft wars, build a mortar and dont fire directly at the opponent.

Sorry I dont want to sound like a safety asshole, but I dont think you realise the peneration and power of such launchers.

What's to say this gun isn't legal? Whose standards are we going by? Legal by the government? Legal by the field?

To my knowledge these strafers are not illegal.

I've seen some pretty powerful airsoft guns that shoot at MUCH greater speeds than this could produce. I have shot pistols that shot clean through FULL soda cans.

I've seen NeoSpud's Inline Vortex in person and though it is impressive, it does not compare to the power of many guns that are "legal" at airsoft fields. His just shoots a lot more at a time than the rest can. He has actually sold those to airsoft fields and they use them.

As far as I'm concerned this seems to be legal.

It may be fine for plinking but will not be field legal and will hurt someone.

Damnit, Gort. I already talked to you about doing this...

I have not personally interviewed someone working at a airsoft company, but im sure weapons go threw extreme safety regulations and testing. These guns are fairly consitent and velocitys are to. But using a home-made gun that has no parts to seperatly fire each shot is a wee-bit risky. Again im not trying to crash anyones fun, but I could only imangine how bad it would suck to shoot up your freind with a home-made gun that caused him harm.

BBMG's easily pentrate pop cans, therefore your comparision is irrelavant. Also I think a bit more then comparing the damage of pop cans should be done when a weapon is going to be shooting fast moving projectiles.

Gort, you of all people I cant belive you arguing such a point.

My BBMG shoots through sheet metal from far away and it's not even very high-power....

BBMG's aren't illegal to have\shoot, but they are illegal for airsoft use

You see Airsoft guns that shoot 500fps (there's a gas powered sniper that can)
thats 500fps right out of the muzzle, they shot slows to probably 350fps before it hit's someone...

For some reason BBMG's keep there fps for a longer time than regular airsoft guns, I think it's because regular airsoft guns have "HOP-UP" which puts backspin on the BB, making it go further, but loosing speed.

Really, don't ever shoot any BBMG at anyone, or any living thing.

I'd go and delete the replies about shooting people but the original poster seems to have disappeared anyway.

Miner, if you are still interested in straightening your barrel make a new thread and it will be strictly kept to target shooting discussions only.

Locked.
