wooden-stock Airsoft Vortex

SPECS:
Valve: Standard blow-gun
Ammo hopper: 1' of 1" pvc pipe
Barrel: 3' of 6mm tubing
Vortex: 1" pvc

I made this for airsoft skirmishes. I will be using a regulated oxygen tank setup (eventually). It looks ugly but it performs great. Shreads through tin cans, cardboard boxes, milk jugs, and even ply-wood! I am debating if i should paint over the wood stock or just paint the plastic. Whats also really cool about this gun is i can make as many hoppers as i want and they can be as big as the gun will allow.

Went a little crazy with the glue eh?

You're gonna get flak for the messy glue drips and the tape on the handle. Just warning you.

I feel that if you had integrated the blowgun into the wooden stock grip, and perhaps were a little more conservative with your gluing, this would be a knockout.

It's a nice start, but as far as craftsmanship goes, you have some learning to do. Then again, at least you realize that its no masterpiece. :D

On the other hand, a bit of attention with some filler and sandpaper followed by a paintjob will be enough to make it very decent. I think the stock is a little skinny personally but for a complete launcher it's looking good :)

This gun was mainly built from spare parts. so, i didn't go out and buy a nice board. just a 2X6 i had laying around.

Looks pretty cool, any chance of a video, instead of the wooden stock why not buy a cheapo airsoft rifle from ebay and mount is in that, then you can lose the tape and glue

I like how you kept the stock thin. In general I prefer thinner/lighter stocks on BBMGs I feel it's more optimised to their performance since there is no recoil.
Like Jsr said all you really need to make this really nice is some sandpaper, filler and varnish. I certainly like it better than my recently finished first vortex cap.

Shoot at something that is soft enough to catch the bbs, such as layers of cardboard. I normally don't recommend using de-virginized bbs, but I hardly think it matters with the bbmg approach.

It's an economical approach.

What does de-virginized mean? I'll try to shoot at a blanket to show rate-of-fire and cans to show damage. (or other things as a request (apple))

Ah, the innocence of youth

I think he means BBs that have already been used ;)

Thank you JSR.

Generally, in more serious airsofting, its frowned upon to use "de-virginized", or used 8) BBs as they are prone to fracturing and can jam the internals of your gun. With a BBMG, this concern is null, as there are virtually no moving parts where fragments of plastic would pose a problem.
