Airsoft Morter

Has anyone thought about making pre-charged mortar rounds from plastic water bottles. You could pre-fill them with water and air pressure. The bottle cap could be punctured by a nail at the bottom of the tube to launch the rocket. Has anyone tried anything like this in the past?

Search "mortar" and you will find plenty of discussion on it.

Only problem to me is the tube is so light it shifts, and falls over when you launch so shots aren't that accurate.

Not to hijack or anything but what type of pressure do you think this is running at.

That is what gave me the ideal. It would be nice to do something homemade like that cheap

I was going to do something of the sort, but i feel that it would be hard to make a cheap, refillable shell that's also safe. I feel if you put a shrader in the shell and a cap on that if the cap fell off it might pose a big risk. although it would make a very successful rapid fire system if you had enough shells.

I was thinking a empty water bottle for the shell. Cheap and you could throw it away. Just reuse the shrader valve. Use the water bottle cap to seal it. I think it would work. Nail at the bottom of the tube would rupture the cap.

I still need the parts. I can say that it will be a 3"; that way I can fire my shells (I have two design choices) and maybe those shells from the airsoft mortar. Also It will work like that mortar, with water. I'll only post details if it is successful.
