Making a new post for my airsoft project, progressing slowly but surely, bit of assembly work this afternoon in the workshop.

As usual I had a change of plan, ditched the burst fire, going for single shot, as I originally intended. Found a sweet piece of pre-drilled 20mm round bar which I opened up to 10mm ID in the drill press, (oh for a lathe)
Bolt open (no hole in barrel yet)
Closed, locking ramp puts pressure on O ring as I want the barrel hole close to the end, the plate fixing bolts are in slots so I can adjust the pressure on the Oring

Do you plan to use this for airsoft games or is it just for hole punching?

This is much more advanced than the single shot airsoft guns my buddies and I made back in the day!
We used to use 100mL syringes with a pipe epoxied to the nozzle and a bunch of rubber bands attached to the plunger to replicate Muskets.
Push an airsoft bb with a wad down the barrel, pull back the plunger and poof!

Made a clamp today for the front section of the gun to secure the barrel to the pvc chamber

PVC painted flat black, mostly assembled now, going to mount a small 4x scope I have on it. Connector on the end of the barrel is to attach extension/silencer, about 8" long.

Looks good!
Since you are well versed with high strength metal constriction should consider a move to higher pressures in the 450-850 range using paintball bottles, supersonic airsoft BBs are more than feasible.

Some mods in progress, changed bolt to left side, I'm right handed but find it easier to load with my left. Mounting scope bracket, making dummy flash hider.
Did some test firing and found a leak, all in pieces now

Back together now, works perfectly, just need to get scope, sights and laser set up.

I fired a good 100 shots through it and the accuracy is terrible, just everywhere, even at 10'. I'm hoping it's the compression fitting I put on the end of the barrel has caused a small ridge inside and is messing it up, gonna cut the last 1" off the barrel and see if it fixes it

If it doesn't fix it, consider adding a hop up like a real airsoft gun or looking towards a heavier bb. Those are usually the most common issues with accuracy for airsoft guns.

I like the idea of hop up, now how to make one
Would a nylon tipped set screw work, or does it need to softer like rubber ?
played with it a bit more, using 0.2g over 0.12g BB's helps a bit, also extending the barrel helps a lot, seems like there is so much extra air coming out behind the BB that it pushes it off course. quite a loud crack and recoil with the short barrel, quiter and smoother with the longer barrel.

looks great! :bounce: :bounce: Do you have a video? I would like very much to see how his creation shoots. Good project. I will try something similar in the future, this idea has been around for a long time.
