i just started to make my first bb gun, I am basing it off the FAP MK1 (http://www.freewebs.com/jalord/fapmk1.htm) except i am taking the part on top for the acumulated fills off. i just cut alot of perspex and glued it together to get the thickness, it will be 1 inch high 4 inches long and 1 inch wide, and the air supply will be a propane bottle i would use Co2 but i cant get it cheaply, i am looking for an alternative method instead of propane. With any luck i will have it finished by early next week. And i dont know how to find out the FPS so if any could help me there i would be very appreciative. i will post pics as soon as it is finished.

Cheers Chosen Way.

<a href="http://www.seattleairsoft.com/modules/n ... ge=0">here </a>an article on finding fps, but that is not th most accurate way becuase it slows down the bb. i saw a simple optical fps detector a little while ago but i dont have the link.

ps - you need to learn how to resize the images on your website, specificaly the prototypes page instaed of img src="somefile.jpg" use img src="somefile.jpg" hight=600 width=800

you think it would work with a digital camera by figureing out how much frames per second it does. and then shoot through a paper and hit a can at like 30 feet or sumthin and then see how many frames it took?

If you use a video camera you could do that. Normal video is 24 frames per second or 1/24 of a second per frame.

ok so everything was looking good for me for about a day, then i started to drill the piston body and it all fell apart in other words cracked :( , what else could i use? i was using plexiglass but it is way to expensive and i have to travel to far to get it, i was thinking PVC rod but i am not sure if i can get that at bunnings warehouse and or mitre 10 these are australian hardware stores people. any ideas? i could try metal but i dont have a very good drill press, or the ability to get a solid peice of metal and i have changed my idea abit and decided to go with this http://www.swanstrom.net/petes/shoot/autobb.htm which will be alot easier for me to drill and all but i still have the problem of plexiglass.

You might try ABS plastic it's much more durable then acrylic or PVC. I would also see if you can find polycarbonate it's like plexiglas (acrylic) but 10 times stronger and much less brittle.

Carl, I believe that it is actually 30 frames per second usually.

ok i am going to give the plexiglass another shot i got some scraps from a teacher at school and he said just draw on it what shapes i want etc. and he will cut it out for me and help me glue it together and drill it because the have big drill presses and i mean big like massive like ones used to make freaking cars, school got em for cheap because they had broken down and they did a course on fixing them and students helped so we get to use them as often as we want, i am getting off topic. he said if the plexiglass doesnt work he will order a slab of pvc and get me to pay for the peice i need and then he will drill that out for me, i cant wait for school on monday now only 2 days :D .
