Why not just make a cloud type bb gun? And what kind of valve would this be using and would the pushrod setup have enough force to actuate it? And using an electric motor requires more equipment which entails more weight. So my question is why?

Sounds good, tricky to make probably but what the hell, go for it.

it would be an interesting project if you could make the motor alternately open the valve and close the breech and vice versa to give single shots.
Otherwise, you could do both in a simple motion by machining a valve as SPG had proposed back on spudtech:

Sounds like a good idea.
great idea but yeah if you make a good enough cloud it will be hella powerful.
But its a god idea and for paint ball it could work.Hell, if you had a big enough air source you may be able to build a paint ball cloud?.
Ps. You spelt motor wrong.

Yeah, and just about every other word more than one syllable longredcoat wrote:Ps. You spelt motor wrong.
Anyways... If you going to use that design of JSR's, make sure your spin isnt too fast, otherwise the paintballs will jam as the valve closes. I like the idea though, so you should go ahead with it if you feel the urge to.
really good quote/phrase here
I like JackSmirkingRevenge's idea.It would be nice to see it in action. .

If you still want to use an external motor to load and fire the projectiles, have a look at this thread (scroll to the last post on the first page) - there's a few other configurations you might want to consider.

I say go for your original idea, but make the motor have a larger gear then the wheel that actuates the rod, it will give you a higher ROF.
