THANK you all

you're not gonna make it with a spring. trust me. pneumatic or combustion is really what you want.

Hey
If you can find a spring that can be more powerful than my 100psi chamber, you have to tell me.
If you want something that you don't have to pump up, get a CO2 or HPA or an air compressor, and make it like that.
But you still have to get the tank filled up

u need a spring, a piston, a chamber for the piston to slide in, a small bore barrel. Design it to these limits: small sliding movement of piston (esp if barrel isnt long). Very high spring tension, lightweight as possible piston.
the exact design is up to the personal tastes of the builder. Id say an inline system would yield most power, but an over under design woudl give u a recoil feel as the piston bottoms out

while i would prefer a fully auto bb gun using an air compressor, what sniper josh is saying is correct, also note that your maximum projectile velocity will be severly limmited i would say around 120 - 200 FPS for a 0.012 g projectile (std BB gun ammunition) approx. 20FPS slower for the heavier 0.2 g projectiles. anyway here are some pics of the internals of my BB gun, this should give you some ideas on how to create yours. n.b. i have left out the trigger mechanism as it is very complex in my BB gun i also lack plans.
sorry abould the shocking quality
i forgot to mention that you should aim to have the lightest materials possible in the construction of your means of compressing air as it is required to mover very fast to generate any considerable pressure

I personally think that it is much more hard to do a conversion and use your stuff that you already have, then some just make a new cloud or vortex gun. Just as an easy start.
Yes, it might seem like and good idea to use that spring, but belive me, springs can be really hard to master. you need some mechanicall skills if you want that to work.
