Somehow, I doubt the potato would still be a potato. Besides, I'm pretty sure that would classify as solid propellant and make your spudgun an illegal firearm. As well as violationg various international treaties.

hmm what if I would heat up the uranium so much that it would be in gasious state? No more solid propellants!

It wouldn't then be dense enough to sustain fission, and it would be very dangerous - in case you hadn't guessed that already.
