What is your estimate as to how may cans you can *ahem* Penetrate?

Well I would be thinking about 4 at first but hopefully I could ramp it up to the next level.
BTW, Could i use Glad wrap or tin-foil as my burst disk?

Does a burst disk just increase the pressure exerted on the projectile?

I might actually start to make this today.
My piston valve gun is a constant project.

Interesting... we get soda in glass or PET bottles here, the only stuff we get in cans is beer

A burst disk is basically just a valve that opens instantly. It doesn't necessarily exert more pressure, it just makes better use of the pressure you have. You can use foil or plastic wrap, just experiment.

Divide the depth of water penetrated in two and you have the approximate penetration in living tissue - not that this information would be useful to anyone as we don't condone the shooting of living things, but for comparison purposes... ;D

It's actually Hydrostatic shock and it's a wonderful thing



you were probably thinking "hygroscopic", which refers to a material that absorbs moisture from the atmosphere - as opposed to what you're doing here, distributing a lot of moisture around the atmosphere hehe
