Some more work on this, the schrader was slightly crooked and annoying the heck out of me so I drilled it out and installed a new one - needs a bit of cleaning up once the epoxy cures but aligned at least.

I also made a new collar out of brass and extended the dimple pattern but to be honest it's not that attractive, I might just have overdone it. A plain ring sounds like a better idea.

The dimply ring is too much I think...

A nice shaped smooth polished collar would look better.

Yep, definitely. I'll keep it as an "Ah, look, I was up all night making you this ring" emergency gift :D

In this case it's past my bedtime so it has plenty of time to cure before I have time to do more on it tomorrow after work. Unlike some people *cough cough hint hint cough cough* I have a day job and don't get to tinker from 9 till 5 ;)

Doesn't matter, it's the reaction that counts. Don't waste time and effort making gifts for ungrateful women ;)

That was meant for USGF who earns a living commanding an army of CNC slaves ;) I never wake up that late, work or weekend, unless I've had a particularly heavy night and got home at 6 in the morning...

Definitely over did that ring. Looks like it has anti mumps. :D Plain brass would be best, I think.

I know it sounds "bitter" but honestly, there's only one "kind" ;) the only reason I go on about it here is that there are so many things I wish I was told when I was younger, it would have made life easier :)

Cheers :D

Yes, plain brass looks like a better deal, though I might inlay some aluminium to make it interesting.

In terms of decoration I was talking to jakethebeast and he mentioned etching, definitely something I want to look into, especially as I have access to pretty much any acid I want :)

I have a couple of litres in the lab, and a couple of drums in the plant, but it seems that I won't have to resort to anything that violent ;)

Jack, if you want to get rid of the nitric acid (or any other), let myself and SB know, we'll happily relieve you of it. :D

Nice work, if the ring makes triggering it easier, then it's perfect, function over form and all.

(Speaking of acids, I just managed to spill some 70% H2SO4 on heating apparatus.Hot heating apparatus of course. Improvising miniature glassware from Pasteur pipettes requires better glassworking skills.)

Don't worry, I get rid of it bit by bit ;)

No, that's the problem with making things pretty! The issue here is that I deliberately went for aesthetic features. Been reading up on etching though, it seems like I can do it easily, watch this space :)

Only 70%? pfft.

I might have some spare weird glassware on the market...
