This is my first combustion cannon. My dad doesn't want me to make combustions unless they are with steel pipe. Some sort of safety hazard. lol. so I had to make something small and easy to hide. So a mini. The chamber is 4 1/2 inches of 3/4 pvc. The barrel is 10 inches of 1/2 pvc with a 1/2 to 3/4 coupler on end. I know I should have used an end cap at end of chamber but I was using leftover stuff so I used a bottle cap glued and taped down real good. I wrapped it in duct tape, and mostly over cap then hose clamped the tape that was on cap. Then I wrapped it in electrical tape so it would not shock me. I used a 6$ lighter sparker so its a good one. I fill it with a common hand torch, I just turn the shutoff on it. It can shoot between 20-60 feet, depending on how much propane I use. Here it is.

i really like it. it's simple and works. my under barrel grenade launcher is gonna use the same size pipe and it's great to see that it,s not such a sucky idea. mine will be a cartridge system but still pretty much the same thing.
WHY PAY FOR IT WHEN U CAN MAKE IT?

I don't recommend you hiding your cannons from your dad....makes you look immature. I know it can be a hard chore to get some parents on-board with some of this stuff, but it's part of your job to do just that.

Your best bet may be to just show him other cannon example and some of the science behind combustion guns. While it will work just fine, steel just isn't necessary for basic 1x combustions like this.

Or just abide by daddy's rules. Be glad that your dad will let you build one. At these sizes, a steel cannon would be very cheap to build as well.

I do agree that if you showed enough initiative to research and show some data about how much pressure a propane cannon will produce, your parents might lighten up about the idea of using pressure rated pvc for a larger launcher (I suggest golf ball shooter).

As it is you have a cute little plinker that I am sure is fun to fire off. Well done on making a working spud gun.

I don't see your problem with being forced to use such materials..sure it'll leave you down a penny or two but opens up the opportunity for hybrids. That said, make sure you know what you're doing first. Killing yourself would probably mean that you wouldn't be allowed to make any more cannons..

That looks like a perfect miniature of a lot of other cannons I've seen on this site.

Awesome.

It looks alright, to much electrical tape, and I never understand minis, I have built so many, but never use them or keep them because fueling is such a *female doggy*.

EDIT also, I voted for burn it, just because I wanted to :D
