you could probably have 10 barrels depending on what your definition of "small" is and whether it is combustion or pneumatic

the barrles are the size of a bic pen, it is combustion, and the bottle would be the size of a gatorade bottle.

How about a soda can, even though it doesn't have as much of a cubic volume the overall cannon would look better. And it would be able to house more barrels. On top of everything else it would be cheaper to mass produce, if you want to.
Oh, and having a lot of barrels isn't always best, because your not going to have as much power behind every shot.

i would suggest 6 barrels it would give a nice mini-gun look and still have plenty of power when you shot it. and if you wanted more than six shots just double load each barrel.

Never seen this question before, "how do you size the chamber and barrels when there are multiple barrels in a combustion gun?"
Figure the total volume of the barrels should be about the same as the total volume of the chamber. That is, the CB is about 1 when the volume of all the barrels is taken into account.
For a bit more oomph (but lower efficiency) you might go for say a CB of 2.
Using pen bodies as the barrels you could probably use several on a standard size perscription pill bottle chamber. For the much larger Gatorade type bottle you can probably use a lot of barrels.
Or, get some 1/2" to 1" copper pipe and use a single barrel. Make a sabot for a bunch of BBs out of cardboard. That would be a lot simpler to build and reload.

I've made a four barreled one before, but it was soo weak, so i junked it and used the sparker for something else, i wouldn't recommend multiple barrels, unless you have a lot of power behind it, or multiple chambers
