I am about to create my first potato gun, but before I start spending, I would like a little feed back about what I am doing wrong, etc. It will be the basic pnumatic gun with a sprinkler valve, but I also added my own version of the loading mechanism, seen here http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=281. The image is sort of to scale, but I am not sure what the projectile will be yet, so the barrel size is negotiable. Please see the attached file, any criticism is appreciated. Thnx

looks good, most newbies dont even know how to solvent weld, you may want to mod that sprinkler valve, that way you wont need batteries, and the valve will open 2X as fast. I also wouldnt go with the Air thorugh the stock design, if something blows because it wasnt glued right you're gonna be missing part of your face...

good luck with that, i can think of an easy way to make it an auto loading mechanism, and from that into semi auto

umm... wanna share it with us?
that looks like a good design man, i agree about the stock. try to get something to make it go straight up to the barrel. the loading system looks good. just be sure that it is sealed after loading so that you do not lose any presure to the clip.

i would have the barrel coming above where u rest your cheek so u can sort of line it up a bit
and i would agree with spudshot about the air in the stock- u could fill the
back part of the first 2 tees with epoxy to seal it up

mmmmkay???

i really like it, and i agree with the modding of the valve and the stock. i think that u should use paintballs for ammo, they will prolly work easier with that, just roll right down. and they fit o so well in 3/4in cpvc
i got connections with the modfia, watch who ur talkin to noob.

Thnk u all 4 your help. i hope to begin working as soon as school gets out. i m planning on using pingpong balls for ammo, (theyr fillable, and fitable into 1.5 pvc.) u r right about filling the stock to prevent a burst. I am going to fill the bottom w/ expanding foam, and cap the top w/ casting resin. I hope to have final plans and pictures posted soon. Thnx!
