Ok I have some questions about pnuematic potato guns. Is there a way to make an auto bb gun without having it hooked up to a compressor. Will a chamber hold enough pressure to shoot more than 1 bb? If so how an how many bbs can it shoot before running out of air. Is there a way to make an electric compressor portable by hooking it up to a car battery or something like that. http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=230 on this gun he seems to have accomplished this. On say a pneumatic cannon such as the PSR, what is the load times like. I know that is a lot of questions, so thanks for any help you can give me.

without a LARGE air compressor (about 15 gallon) you wont get much firing time at all, with my 8 gallon i can shoot for about 30 seconds before it kicks back on.

yeah, you can make one of those little farts portable, but it wont power a bbmg. wtf is a PSR?

oh ok, my first cannon had a chamber size close to that i believe, it took a hell of a long time even to fill to 60 psi (i'd go farther, but the 12v compressor got really hot)

im not sure about this, but i'd think that it would take nowhere near the ammount of air to move the bb the same distance as the potato, at the same speed. so i beleive (correct me if im wrong) that by decreasing the line size to somewhere around 1/4" to 1/8" (or smaller) you could increase the ammount of air you get from the cannon. as for the air compressor-battery thing, my dad has an excellent portable air compressor that runs off of the cigarette lighter.

it doesnt take the same volume, but depending on the weight it takes the same pressure to move it the same distance, but when you go for a full auto BBMG you waste alot of air as the bb's circulate around in the chamber. you cant increase the amout of air by doing that, all that will do is choke the flow severly and really hurt performance

Is there any valve that will only let out a certain amount of air each pull.

a blowgun, thats all i can think of right now, unless you keep the air source connected to your gun, then you can use a piston or phram valve with a blowgun trigger like that, but you'd need a pretty big compressor and a small chamber on the phram cannon

How does the blowgun work? How can I set it to only let out a certain amount of air each pull.

Also does the blowgun let out air as well as the solenoid?

you mean as a solenoid valve? or just the solenoid on the valve?

if you mean as the solenoid on the valve it lets air out better, thats why we mod it, the solenoid doesnt give it as much flow as the blowgun does

if you mean as a solenoid valve no, a blowgun doesnt have near as much flow as the valve
