Interrupted screw breech.

Hallo,
I am new here so go easy on me . I was thinking about spud guns when it occurred to me that not many people use breech loading systems. However those who have used a breech loading system, did any of them use an interrupted screw breech like a welin or de bange breech? This is basically how it works:

Can't think of anyone going that route before..
I can't see what the advantages are over what we have tried so far either...but if you'd try it ..it would be interesting too see...

Remember how I want to build that over kill pneumatic rifle? Well I am now debating how applicable it would be to air rifles, if used as a back bolt lock you could pretty much use that as is, but if doing a front lock, you would have to make a section that has an o ring infront of the threads that fits into the chamber, ( cartridge or not, chamber of some sort is needed) I got this idea from reading a rifle design book, ( want to be a part time gunsmith) but good luck if you attempt, it will bring us closer to some awesome bolt acton spud shooters

Not really. It will bring OP closer to some awesome bolt action spud shooters. The problem with such a breech isn't whether or not it will work. It will. Spectacularly. The problem is rather, who has the resources to make such a breech? Answer: Very few of us.

Well, one can always file the threads of a pair of fittings (I see a lot filing but I also see that would work just fine)... I'd use my mill though.

Sealing is the deal here as well... I'm pretty sure most of you know how leaking combustion gases work around crisp, white PVC...

A smooth section with an o-ring could work well for that.

Just use bigger fittings than the bore and put a washer in the end, shouldn't be complicated if done right.

I could see making one of those in reach for those with a drill press and a file or belt sander, if the screw in bolt is a peice of all thread just file away the thread where you don't want them and then get a nut and file away it's threads.( though to make it bolt action, the all thread will need some drilling to attach it to something like a copper pipe, drill a pilot hole with a diameter of like 1/4" drill bit and then it can be widened progressively.) this would probably work well if attached to some piping before the bolt screw. Also I think leaking is easily solved if done right, but I'm not sure of your design so I can't realy know how it will go from there.
