Yet more powderburning distraction, this time in the form of a Mini-14.
It was throwing its spent brass almost as fast as the bullets on its first trip to the range so I'm currently reworking the gas system with a smaller bushing. In the process of removing the gas block, found some stripped screws as it seems the female thread was damaged or improperly cut. A minor setback, but obviously they were 8-36 screws because 8-32 would have been too easy so I had to order some new tooling and screws from across the border
Feeding these things gets expensive fast, I'm pretty sure it will level out sooner or later...

Interesting technique to use ready-to-use mixture of hydrogen and oxygen. The child only disconnects the hho generator from the gun, after loading the dose, and the danger seems minor, will the safety be reasonably sufficient?

That's exactly what I'm talking about! I really think "HHO" is the way to go for repeating combustion spud guns. Imagine if he put some kind of reloading system on the barrel like a blow forward valve or a paintball style hopper, then had a ball valve to close the chamber off from the HHO generator. He could easily fire his gun quite quickly and with little fuss for fuel mixing!

At 18.75" the barrel is too long for the Sherline so it was roughed with a hacksaw then a power drill tool was made to finish it with a Delrin rod that fits exactly in the muzzle, mounting a Dremel grinding disk.
I'll need to add a new bead at some point too.
Now for the stock, I'm sort of having second thoughts because it looks pretty good as it is...

I suggest you use preloaded cartridges with HHO, and the ammunition included in them. This way it can even work semi-automatically. I have the idea, (intuitive), that likewise, a propane-air combustion weapon can be improved in this way. As always, it's a matter of manufacturing and testing, because "ideas" don't make holes, only weapons.

Preloaded HHO is pretty good, but hydrogen seems to find a way to escape from almost any container so they can't be stored very long (especially in the heat). Recently I've been looking at simple piston hybrid designs that could be filled via HHO for repeating fire. I bet with a microcontroller connected to the ignition and a transducer it could even be made fully auto! :idea1:
