There has been a bit of a grey area with spudguns in Australia and there legality so I decided to find out what is the real deal.I got the following information through Police and Fire Arms Registry.

Combustion Launchers,Illegal unless registered.Class E Firearm.
Pneumatic Launchers,Illegal unless registered.Class A Firearm.
QLD:
Combustion Launchers,Illegal unless registered.Class E Firearm.
Pneumatic Launchers,Illegal unless registered.Class A Firearm.
VIC:

Pneumatic Launchers,Illegal unless registered.Class A Firearm.
WA:
Combustion Launchers,Illegal unless registered.Class E Firearm
Pneumatic Launchers,Legal to own and use,but can be confiscated and destroyed without reason or due cause by Police.
NT:-Information Needed.

There's a but required to pass certain testing/regulations. clause though, which could be quite limiting - for example in the UK, if it's capable of producing more than 12 ft/lbs of muzzle energy (extremely easy for most lreasonably sized cannon) it qualifies as a firearm, and to be allowed to legally own it you need a very good reason, for which "blasting holes in stuff" hardly qualifies.Blitz wrote:That's interesting that you can register your cannon; I can totally see how that falls under the air rifle/PB gun category.

Integral, when you find out what was said on the discussion let me know and hopefully they would of stated laws in other states i did not mention.
Although there some light. The Government have been throwing words around and is under pressure to change the laws on Paintball guns and Airsoft guns,so there could be a good change coming our way!Hopefully.

A bit strange considering pneumatics are generally more powerful and dangerous (From the end of the muzzle)rna_duelers wrote:
