Australian Spudgun Laws.

The answer to your question is no. it would not be classified as a firearm.
It would only be classified as a firearm, if it exceeds 152.4 m/s, so if it shoots faster than that, its a firearm.
Cheers.

*EDIT*
sorry I forgot.
A spudgun is pretty much an air gun, so yes, it can be classified as an air gun.

Im soon going to join my local rifle range so I can apply for a licence. By my Pops will I legally own a .222 rifle. My Pop taught me to shoot it, Im just not used to anything better than a slug gun (I awlays win at them at our show ). Other than that I should be good for a licence when Im 18.

OH shit, I'm gonna have to vote this year! I'd vote Twitch if I could!
Hey Bubba I've done some research and I think over here in S.A. I'll need a full gun license to be able to get an air rifle, which is like a class A/B I think, a class C license only gets you paintball I think, so I'm a bit bummed about that, but the course to get an A/B license is only like $140 bucks, so that's not too bad I guess!
I also checked out some air rifle/gun prices from the Adelaide Gun Shop, and it's no wonder so many people make their own!

Yeah mate! the price of weopons is not cheap. I have a .303 worth nearly 3 grand! A class form my paper work covers all gas powered guns witch is air riffel and paint ball. class B is some types of shot guns and class C are bolt action rim fire riffles! but thats NSW classification might me different in SA. But i cant find anything to say any different. The reason mine is so expencive is becouse i hold an R class witch covers me for everything. Got my new news letter from ASSA yesterday and im mad!
Well boys the firearms act is under review again and this might mean some re-classification of some weopons and the law is going to change again. So our nuts are going to be in a vice! All this becouse of the unfortunate happenings over in the states!
Bloody hell every time these things happen some gun control nut gose off the deep end and we get screwed!

yer im gonna apply for my juniors soon as well. i hope mi dad has the time to get his aswell, he used to have it but when his work got more deamanding he ran out of time for it.
im gonna get a .17 rem first so all i can do is hope that dad gets the time for the licensing and stuff.
i hope this turns to our advantage with spudguns at least...fingers crossed.Well boys the firearms act is under review again and this might mean some re-classification of some weopons and the law is going to change again. But i am pissed off that when some idiots stuff up with something everyone has to pay the price.

From what I'm reading it looks like there going to udate the classifications and looking into banning all together some class of guns/riffles. Looks like Automatics are getting the chop boys and that leaves us with semi-autos witch looks to get there own classification. Lisincing is getting a look over as well wather there going to make it harder or easer to get your license not to be seen yet. As chaos said fingers crossed.
Lets hope the pollys get there finger out and leave it be with a few changes.
