You know there are times when I am glad I don't live in aus.
You can tell how awesome a cannon is by the pressure used.

Man, they're awfully strict for a country founded by convicts.
"If at first you dont succeed, then skydiving is not for you" - Darwin Awards
Even convicts have to reform and get their act together when they're dumped in a place which has approximately bugger-all civilisation in it and certainly no others to leech a living from.
Besides the tag convict back in the days of the place being a penal colony could cover quite a few things from petty theft upwards and being deported was considered a better option to the really really crap prisons of the time.

Give up spudding, and you've just conceeded defeat to those despicable critters that are running your country. I'd suggest either moving out of the country, or setting up shop somewhere that can be more easily defended and hidden from the agents of the law, but that really depends on how much you care about your own basic rights and freedoms. If you give up, you turn into one of the sheeple.
Australia is one of a new breed of countries that I like to refer to as fascist-democracies - you may elect a different leadership, but you don't have any freedom regardless of who you pick. Australia's even worse than the UK, and you've got to be very careful if you live there, as you can be fairly certain that Big Brother is watching. So careful, in fact, that it's hardly even worth the trouble of staying. Perhaps a coup is in order...

It's unfortunate that there are such tight arms laws in Australia, but it is a weebit safer down there no?
It's not. And those gun laws are to blame.
When those laws went into effect in the '90s, murder and other violent crimes SKYROCKETED. It had absolutely no effect WHATSOEVER except taking arms away from law abiding citizens, depriving them of their god-given right to self defense. Countless hundreds have died because of those laws, and in many of those cases, the damage could have been prevented if the victim had access to even an UNLOADED firearm. Every day, armed citizens help to make the world safer by stopping criminals from committing their crimes, while rarely having to fire a shot. Why don't you ever hear about it? Two reasons; one, it happens every day. If something happens every day, the media doesn't give a flying f*ck. Two, anti-gun organizations spend BILLIONS annually to keep people from knowing the truth about firearms.
What happened in Australia is both an atrocity and a crime against humanity. Hundreds dead and wounded, and the only thing to show for it, is a population completely devoid of options for self defense.
They said, 'Now with these new laws, only outlaws will have guns!'
And they were right.

The problem with this hobby is you are never satisfied. When I fist started spudding 2 years ago, I thought 60psi was a stupid amount of pressure, and now I've broken 500psi. When will it ever stop?
As to what SEAKING said, Australia is one of the most liveable places on earth. Ofcourse we have our rough suburbs (parts of Melbourne and Sydney) but it's generally fine.

I'd put it this way...
There is a quote: "Crimes without victims are like debts without creditors - they do not exist".
(You may know where the quote is from, but let's avoid that discussion here, thank you).
Where exactly is the victim?

Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

I laughed in a serious way at that. Are you even allowed to carry a knife there? They said, 'Now with these new laws, only outlaws will have guns!'

There has been a rise in violence in the city I live in at the moment (bashings, knife crime, vandelism)... and in the paper, guess what you see? People absolutely convinced that stricter penalties for carrying a knife will stop knife crime... It is just ridiculous. People are so fast to blame inanimate objects for society's failings. Harsher penalties arn't gonna deter somone who is willing to attack somone for no reason. The only real way to fix it is more police on the street, but that is difficult because there just arn't enough cops to go around. And people, stop blaming the cops for our gun laws. It isn't their fault, and when people get arrested for stupid laws, they are just doing their job, which is to enforce the law.
@ Sticky_tape... are we allowed to carry a knife? Hell no. We arn't even allowed to have low powered (<1mW) laser pointers in public... all because of some dickheads shining high powered pointers into aircraft cockpits, trying to dazzle the pilot.

Ok I got the full details off RNA (I got his msn). His friend goes to court in a few days and he was out of town on a property shooting when the cops caught him pumping up a golf ball pneumatic. Ten years is the minimum he's looking at for: Possesion of an illegal fire arm, Discharging of said fire arm and Not owning a registered gun licence or registered weapon.
Pretty harsh for just a hobby. Im going to pull apart my combustions and start building pneumatics with silencers for indoor use.
By the way RNA's msn is goth_thugg@hotmail.com if you wish to discuss it with him. I recommend talkin halfway through the day so he isnt wasted yet.

Just depends witch Police officer you happen to get, i was "caught" once, stoopid neighbours trying to ruin my fun.
The cops just told me to dismantle it (with looks on their faces like WTF) i told them i would (i lied) and they left me alone. This was with a .50cal combustion though, somewhat less power than a pneumo golf ball cannon.
I think when this case goes to court the Magistrate will be forced to impose a custodial sentence, i believe the use of an unregistered "firearm" involves mandatory sentencing, damn stoopid law makers, their fat asses getting fatter by the day, their cigars getting fatter too and also their pay packets.
It seems absurd to me that they will bring this guy down but give a fudging Heroin addict a shooting room so he can fudge up his life even more, give him a spuddy and he would probably forget about drugs!

Well Spudguns are illegal in most countries except for the US.
Though each country has different laws and regulations, some regulate weapons on there muzzle velocity or energy and some just regulate weapons on their operating properties like pneumatic, combustion etc.
Check out the Wiki for a more detailed explanation on where spudguns are illegal.
