The forum language has been reset to English..
Better that way.I made a welcome text /PM that explains how each can reset it to their own preference.
now post!!
I'll hunt down new Dutch members this weekend through youtube, but they won;t stick around in an empty forum..
Everyone will be able to use an avatar..
I've even gave some to certain members..
Love the one I gave to Necrosis..

It's like popping your head through an open car window shouting at the married couple inside:
" I don't want to be involved in your conversation!!!!!"

No offence, but that's pretty daft. It's a MUCH better system.Mr.Sandman wrote:I think I will stick to Spudfiles as I hate using the metric system.
To demonstrate, how many ounces are there in 6.5 Ton? I'll wait for you to get out the calculator. Now was I using long Ton or short Ton?
Compare. How many grams are there in 6.5 tonnes?
~~~~~
Next, how many pints are there in a cubic yard? Okay, was I talking about Imperial pints, US liquid pints or US dry pints?
Compare. How many litres are there in a cubic metre?
~~~~~
The metric system is simply superior. About the only time I genuinely use the Imperial system by choice (rather than to stop who I'm talking to going "Wha?") is for rough estimations: "Yeah, it's about 6 feet long mate."
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Also, the imperial system is "cooler". I still ask for a pint of lagerRagnarok wrote:The metric system is simply superior. And can you imagine staring down the barrel of an eleven point four three?
In this country, there isn't a huge amount of choice. In pubs, beer is invariably sold in pints (or half pints).jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:I still ask for a pint of lager.
The UK is somewhat weird, because we've got a whole mix of Imperial and Metric going on, so converting between the two is almost second nature.
Of course, the problem here is that Imperial is only half the same system as US customary units (so why they insist on calling it the "English system" I will never know). All the US volumetric measures are different to the Imperial ones, as well as their Ton being different (only 2,000 lbs. to the Imperial 2240 lbs.) Similarly, the hundredweights are different (both 1/20th of the respective Ton).
Either way, I wouldn't dream of using Imperial for any serious calculation.

But it was The Brit's that screwed the USA for 4oz out of every 20oz, so our pints aren't even REAL pints...dammit... Yep, the tea party was because of BEERTAX...

Hey, they may only be 16 fl.oz, but don't blame the Brits for the fact your fluid ounces aren't equal to the volume of an ounce of water.jeepkahn wrote:So our pints aren't even REAL pints...

I should also note having re-read Jack's Spanish, that I've only just got the horrible pun from "The Dark Knight"* - trust Bruce Wayne to be driving a Lamborghini Murciélago.
*Hey, I'm not slow. I've just never learnt Spanish.
Also, all of you have just lost The Game.
