A simple device....something a fellow with pcps and a scuba tank would appreciate. Full fills right down to 500 psi or lower.
Thinking to feed the hp end from a "fridgy" to speed things up if needed....would be at least 5 times faster.

It's a wonder this type of thing hasn't caught on in the airgun crowd... (unless it has and I'm simply not aware because we Americans have firearms )Gippeto wrote:

It has caught on with some. Price is usually what puts a damper on folks enthusiasm. A new gas booster will run a couple thousand dollars...or more. Thus far, I have spent less than$100 and used some of my coffee/lunch breaks....heck of a deal.

A couple of months ago, I would have called that yank snobbery. My eyes are open.

I quit shooting a rimmy in favor of airguns for the increased challenge, sold most of pb's off some time ago. The only pb I've kept is my grandfathers deer rifle....although I will admit I've been eyeballing a CZ 452.
Anyhoo...a little more progress.

Fantastic rifle, and *very* quiet when fitted with a well engineered muzzle device, the barrel has a 1/2" UNF thread if I recall correctlyGippeto wrote:I will admit I've been eyeballing a CZ 452.

Was the tool fed slowly yet inexorably into the chuck?Crna Legija wrote:oh jsr you would have cried had you seen what and new apprentice did to our lathe at work, he learnt a lesson don't walk away while screw cutting!

Odd that the lathe doesn't have a threading stop...perhaps not used? Would have been quite the crash I'm sure.
Anyhoo...finished up a couple bits this morning, assembled over lunch and had a quick test.
Works quite well actually. Was feeding the hp end 90 psi and cycling by sticking the air hose to the diaphragm. More testing to come after I get the stand made. Four pump strokes had the fittings, gauge and dead space filled to 3000psi...gauge was climbing good when I terminated the test mid stroke.

Sounds a bit awkward, I assume you're going to automate it eventually? Was feeding the hp end 90 psi and cycling by sticking the air hose to the diaphragm.

It WAS very makeshift...but only for a quick test/function check.
Slide valve or similar initially...would fully automate it if I decide to try using it to fill tanks.
