use that as the barrel it would be better and make chamber out of 4 inch pipe and make it turn alot so the chamber holds more in less space have fun attaching it to the barrel and try to shoot sit and bounce balls that would be awesome.

This is rediculous... I wouldn't trust that pipe even if it was pressure rated. It looks like it's been sitting in the sun for a few years. I think that if anyone's gonna make a canon that big they should go to a scrap yard and get some proper steel pipe. If you really wanna use it, make your fittings out of wood, glue and screw them in and the reinfoce the whole thing in a thick coating of fiberglass. Make the walls over an inch thick or something. Besides, I think tubing that size is encroaching on punkin' chunckin' wouldn't it?

Hehehe...pumpkin pie.....

You could bury it like the Mythbusters' sewer drain cannon. Or just remote fire. Honestly, I don't think the integrity of it is any more of a concern that any sort of "typical" high power cannons (large 4" and greater). A 4"x10' chamber on a pneumatic at 100 psi I think warrents remote fire, and a combustion of that size or any hybrid in general, so I don't think it would be any trouble to rig up a remote setup. The question is if you have the space. If you're out in the boonies, I say go for it.

That would be really, really funny. Imagine, making a sheep drink gasoline, lighting the wool and shooting it...sheepie molotov cocktails

I think you should make a plug for it and use it like that. Shoot saboted footballs and make 100-yard field goals every time.

That sounds oddly familiar....like a DWV user's famous last words....

Regardless, power is proportional to volume, and structural integrity decreases with radius. I personally would want to be behind 1/2 lexan when firing that thing.

nothing would happen because he said that there is a 5 inch thick wall of pvc on the pipe and that would probably be impossible to blow up. and if you do get it to shoot post it on the internet :D

I said >>.(point!)5 inches thick, meaning half an inch, well actually .43 something. if it was 5 inches thick I doubt Id be able to move it, let alone make a cannon with it.
I might make something with it over the summer, after the contest is over. I just got a propane reg yesterday so Ill definately try to do something with it when I get a chance.
If anyone has a midget or sheep they can give me please do because I dont have any suitable projectiles for such a large calibre :)

How big are basketballs? Would they fit? I actually have the same kind of situation as you _Fnord. I found 24' of 8" diameter pipe in the woods. I think it is probably ABS of something, but still that is a lot of material and there has to be a use for it. Any ideas for that?
