Designing a new combustion. 8" x 50" chamber. Deciding on the barrel size.

ITWOST I started working on a paintball launcher that looks like a Barrett .50 cal.

Two questions..

1) High Pressure?
2) How long till completion?
3) Do you have a camera? :D

ITWOST, I realised exactly what 60kJ of recoil force will do to a poorly constructed stand, and that the sparkplugs I'm using weren't designed to survive 3000psi...

I also learned that 10 year old bags of concrete mix apparently don't make very good concrete

That's three questions
It will have a steel chamber, so I may take it to 300 PSI.

I am saving my money for a truck, so it may take a while (a month probably)

Yes, I do have a camera.

Okay, slight problem there. Recoil force of ~600J

Happy now?

Mind you people talking about the power of a rifle/whatever in Joules is also inaccurate.

Anyone know where I can get a 250mm piece of 90mm Delrin rod?
Uk only really.

Edit: Never mind, seems it's also known as Acetal.

Joules are still energy, not force! Razz

Once again, I'll rephrase it to appease the resident pedant(s):

The entire 100kg assembly recoiled at a speed of roughly 3.5m/s on firing, giving it a kinetic energy of ~600J, about 1/100th of what was imparted on the projectiles. :P

Also, how is using Joules when talking about the kinetic energy of the projectile fired from a rifle inaccurate? What unit of energy would you use?
