ITWOST I started working on a paintball launcher that looks like a Barrett .50 cal.

Two questions..potatoflinger wrote:ITWOST I started working on a paintball launcher that looks like a Barrett .50 cal.
1) High Pressure?
2) How long till completion?
3) Do you have a camera?

ITWOST, I realised exactly what 60kJ of recoil force will do to a poorly constructed stand, and that the sparkplugs I'm using weren't designed to survive 3000psi...
I also learned that 10 year old bags of concrete mix apparently don't make very good concrete

It will have a steel chamber, so I may take it to 300 PSI.
I am saving my money for a truck, so it may take a while (a month probably)
Yes, I do have a camera.

Joules are still energy, not force!DYI wrote:Happy now?

Mind you people talking about the power of a rifle/whatever in Joules is also inaccurate.
Oh well, can't have everything.

Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Anyone know where I can get a 250mm piece of 90mm Delrin rod?
Uk only really.
Edit: Never mind, seems it's also known as Acetal.

Once again, I'll rephrase it to appease the resident pedant(s):Joules are still energy, not force! Razz

The entire 100kg assembly recoiled at a speed of roughly 3.5m/s on firing, giving it a kinetic energy of ~600J, about 1/100th of what was imparted on the projectiles.

Also, how is using Joules when talking about the kinetic energy of the projectile fired from a rifle inaccurate? What unit of energy would you use?
