Following on from this thread, I thought I'd see if my 6mm burst disc project was up to the challenge. Target was a 10 Euro coin (I hear the dollar is weak against the Euro right now, so it must be tougher than a quarter ;p) and ammunition was a 40mm long masonry nail wrapped in tape to fit the barrel. The video and pics speak for themselves

So shoot the same coin. It's got plenty of space left for a needle. Just take that nail out, hammer the coin a bit to get the dent out and shoot it again.

f***ed if I know, my gauge is screwed, it reads 40 psi when empty - but it was at least 300 psi.
Well, here's the biggest needle I could find, wrapped in masking tape, next to a new coin (it's ok paaiyan, I'm not that poor )
It'll probably ricochet and blind me, if not I'll upload the vid

Well you should put a couple more cois over your eyes, that way if it ricochets and blinds you, we'll still be able to see if it went throug the coin, lol. Just kidding jack

Ok, I was about ready to call this one busted - after the shot, I found the back half of the needle and saw the gouge in the front of the coin that was slightly embedded into the plywood and figured it had just broken and ricocheted off.
I checked the back of the coin for completeness sake and was amazed to find an exit hole and some searching later, sure enough I dug the front half of the needle from my bed.
Scary stuff, I truly believed it wouldn't go through. That, ladies and gentlement, is the power of sectional density

I accept your challenge, my good sir.
...
Thick needle shot from my hybrid's marble barrel at ~4x.
The needle in the picture is not the same one I shot(it's slightly bigger) for unexpected reasons.
I wrapped electrical tape around the needle and used a piece of 3/4 plywood for a backstop, and was surprised when the needle went completely through the plywood and the tape dented the quarter badly.

@jackssmirkingrvenge - Contuning from the other thread, this kind of thing is expected with that little beast you shoot.
@_Fnord - I would assume you used your handheld hybrid, which is also a beast. Again, this is expected.
I am just having a really hard time picturing this happening with a ball valve cannon, then the needle not even bending or the coin being dented.

Hi,
Wow, that´s incredible! Unfortunately for me, the Danish coins either are too small (25, 50 øre), have a hole in them already (1, 2, 5 kr), or are worth too much (10, 20 kr) to shoot!
10 euro, I thought what a waste, then I realized it was 10 cents.
Regards
Soren
