Pneumatic Cannon Questions

Me and a group of 3 others are working on a pneumatic cannon (designed for tennis balls, if it is any difference).

We have just about all the PVC together for a design like the CLAC in the Pneumatic section of the Cannons page. What kind of glue is used for the tire valve? What is it filled using? (An air compressor, CO2 tank?)

I would recommend that you use a 1/8" NPT Tap in order to thread the hole you are using for the tire valve (note: drill a 21/64" hole). Then to seal the valve use some teflon tape. As far as your air supply you should definately use an air compressor. CO2 can be dangerous and expensive. If you have any more questions feel free to ask me.

Why do you say co2 is danrerous? So long as you have as good reg, a burst disk on the tank, and a flow resticton going into the gun (The cold from the expanding gas makes pvc brittle) there is really nothing to fear. I really like 12 grams for launchers I plan to take anyware, and even a big 20lb tank is easier to carry around than an air compressor. Not only that, most home compressors dont go up to 1800psi

CO2 is really nothing more than a case of the weapon is only as dangerous as the person wielding it. If you are smart, and know what you are doing, you should have no problems.

i say CO2 is dangerous because i get the impression that this user is new to potato guns. In other words i refuse to recommend anything that has a capacity of "1800 psi" to a newbie. Personally I will be getting a CO2 system as soon as i get the money for a regulator.

My first gun used co2, and I'm still in one piece. I think little 12 gram co2 cartrages are the perfect thing for beginers. Even more som now that they have the schrader valve adaptors.

I have a question on that topic. I am planning to use a 12 gram CO2 cartridge on one of my guns, can i just attach it straight to my gun or do i need a regulator?

No problem, glad I could help. Just wondering, are you planning on useing an adaptor, and hooking it right up to the launcher, or putting it in through a schrader valve?

I'll probably use an adaptor. They have some nice ones online for $20 on paintballgear.com

4 my first airgun i just cut a bike valve off a tire tube and drilled a hole in the pvc pipe then i put epoxy on the bottom of the valve and on the hole and pull it thru with pliers
