I'm dying to know where I could find this type of hose barb, or what name it could possibly have. As of now, it's the only thing preventing the completion of my gun.
The main difference between this hose barb and others, is that it lacks the hex portion, which you can see in the one below:

Thanks

If the second one can easily be found I suggest filing off the hex and be done with it.
although the first one is a beauty..
Got to finish that gun one way or the other..

Yea these hose barbs are hard to find, many people asked about it. Much easier to find are brass solder fittings.

That hose barb doesn't have a tapered pipe thread - it is a garden hose fitting, not a pipe fitting

You could also press fit a female 3/8 connector into a male 3/4 connector. Make sure the 3/8 connector's body has exactly the same or a hair larger OD than the 3/4 ID.
Some sort of ridge or hexagonal part on one end of the 3/8 connector could be used to "anchor" it and also provide a larger surface area for the piston seal. Those solder fittings are so thin they will cut right through the rubber at higher pressure.

I've considered face bushings, with a number of washers stacked on it.
Kind of like this.
The washers would provide more area for the sealing gasket to press up against, and wouldn't require as long a piston.
My hopes are to run this valve up to 400 psi. Already made an epoxy piston and it seems like it would shatter if I used it at that pressure.

Just find a short length of brass pipe and cut it to size, maybe? That's pretty much the standard way to do it, and would eliminate to washers.

i just solder a bit of copper pipe into a brass fitting.
