About 6 minutes in The mythbusters are doing a small scale test to see if the fumes in a sewer are ignited will it result i a man hole cover being launched into the sky.

What does this have to do with spudfiles?
They perform two separate test to find the most favorable conditions to get the desired result.

The first test is done with an empty "chamber". On high speed you can clearly see that ignition starts on one end and slowly works toward the other.
The second test is done with "obstacles" placed in the "chamber". this time the obstructions break the "wall of fire, for lack of better wording" Resulting in more surface area and a MUCH faster burn rate.

Im not a combustion person nor do i think i am the first to think this.

My Point is does putting a bunch of "junk" in your combustion cannon result in a more powerful shot

This has been discussed a few times on the forums (I don't mean that in a "go and search" way ). I think someone may have even tested it by putting springs in an advanced combustion chamber (which may also aid in mixing). I can't recall if any conclusions have been drawn about objects in the chamber but it would be a worthy experiment if you think you might be up to it.

There might be some more info on the forums that is of use.

Im not a combustion guy, I was just posting to put it out there for other people. Im not surprised that it has been a topic before i was just unsure and felt like it would been an interesting thought.

"Putting junk in the chamber" is pretty well known, and is used in the form of schreckling spirals to initiate DDT in PDE's and the like

Here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shchelkin_spiral

And here is one cannon using the "shchelkin spiral" for DDT (propane/air mix): http://armytec.net/index.php?option=com ... &Itemid=61
