Hello spud members! I've built my own pvc air guns before, so I'm not a complete newb. However, I want to step it up and build a QEV air rifle. Looking at the air gun on this website http://www.airgununiverse.net/qevairgun.html. it looks very do able for me. Although, I want to purchase a qev but the link to the qev supplied on the article is non functional. If anybody knows what qev he used or another 1/2 qev that would work, please post a link or useful info. Thank you very much.

Thank you it seems very obvious now that it is pointed out to me haha. My only concern is the pressure ratings on some of the qev's. Most say their pressure rating is about 0 - 140 psi. The rifle I'm building requires around 250 psi. Will these qev's rated at these pressures be able to hold up to the higher pressures my air rifle will utilize?

People have used such valves to 600 psi without incident, not recommended to exceed a manufacturer's safety ratings of course but working pressure is normally well below failure pressire so it is extremely unlikely that any ill effect will be suffered at 250 psi.

Ok thank you, it makes much more sense now. I really appreciate your replies. Gotta go down to my hardware store and get the stuff on my parts list! Hope they don't ask why a fourteen year old needs all this stuff haha

How old are you jsr?... and also most hardware stores wont care or if you ar telling them you are going sto build somthing, like a dart rifle :D they realy are more interested in the build itself than how dangerous it actualy is.

I used to say "school project" whenever I was at the hardware store, but nowadays I just tell them exactly what I'm building. Most of the employees love to hear about my projects, and most of the time, they even cut me deals on the stuff I buy. Last weekend, one of the guys working at lowes hooked me up with their employee discount :D

Yeah I always say school project like a Rube Goldberg type thing. The only thing that annoys me is that sometimes they give me a hard time whenever I buy spray paint.

The thing is I go to a local ace hardware that had an incident a couple years ago . Some guy bought all the materials he needed for an air rifle of some kind at the ace store , built his rifle, and hurt himself. He tried to sue ace and they don't want to run into this incident again. They have asked me before so I just said a school project but I go there all the time lol. I even know the employees but none of them really know what I'm making... Haha

ya know how some peple are retards, well that guy in you story was more than a retard. I would really hate to have that happen to me then have all employees not want to sell things for spudding. (his beond retardedness comes from the fact that he tried to sue because of his own stupidity)

I do too. In fact, I made a scale model of my current project for that same reason. I mean, if you're ever asked what you're doing with them, you're not obligated to say. Just give a generic answer, like you're helping around the house, if anything.

I personally don't have a problem in the rare case I'm asked; in fact most people dig it. Although I don't always go into details. I may say I want something for a sliding rail for example, but not for a cannon. :)
