My gun shot about 50 feet into the air with a small "puff!" sound. It was stored in a hot garage with the hairspray. Could you tell me what might be wrong? Thank you.

If you're using hairspray that's your problem. Your air/fuel ratio is probably off. You should try some spray deodorant or preferably propane.

perhaps hot muggy weather along with inadequate fuel:chamber ratio could have a serious affect on performance.
maybe something with condensation in the air? its really steamy at my place and there's potential tornado weather headed our way.
you could load it in the house and shoot out a window and see if there's a difference.
i shot a potato off in the basement once!

i know that my mini cannon wont fire when its humid becuase the ignitor (the spark thing from a long nose lighter) doesnt generate a good spark. i guess that would be because most of the power is transfered into the air instaed of the other terminal.

I think that the humidity is the problem in your case irwinner. The resistance of air decreases with moister content some you should get a better spark when it's humid. I think your problem has more to do with your ignition setup small piezo crystal and possible your spark gap.
