I just made my first cannon, and i might make another one. So i was wondering witch one was better, Compressed air or Right gard.

I think what your trying to say is pnuematic or combustion. Seeing as you have already made one cannon you might want to make a pnuematic gun because they are harder to cnstruct and shoot farther. I have expressed my opinion about this before to and i think the only real thrill in a pnuematic is the construction process. Shooting combustions are so much funner to shot (I think). A big BOOM and a flame is some much cooler then a rush of air. If your wondering i have also built a pnuematic gun before and the only thrill was making it. I dont know if you should listen to my opinion seeing as it is a miniorty (who have the same opinion as me) and the rest of the spud gunners that arent in my minority they seem to like pnuematic. I hope i have given you good idea of what you want to do. Sorry for it being so long

Better? Definatly a pnematic!
If I remember, peak pressures in a combustion are around 30-60 PSI, where a pnematic is often operated at pressures in the 100+ range.
A good combustion with a good propelent is quite simmilar to a pnematic. Combustions can be simpler then pnematics, and their fuel is a bit more portable than a air tank.
I always liked fire though, so my next one is going to be a combustion.
(my first one is a coaxial 4" chamber, 2" barrel 58.5" long, with 3/8 ball vaulve actuated diaphram vaulve)
The vaulve was acctualy quite simple to make...

Yeah, and you where using cellular core pipe, wern't you?
If you make a pnematic out of cellular core, it's just as dangerous...

uhh whats a cellular core pipe. I have a 6" pipe in diameter that I plan on using for a combustion, I think someone told me that that might be a cellular core pipe. What is it?

Cell core means the wall is full of tiny bubbles. this pipe is very weak, and should not be used for guns.

Yeah, cellular core means that the pipe wall is mostly "hard foam". It has a thin layer of solid PVC on the outside, but don't let that fool you. You could try poking the wall of you pipe (from the end) with a nail or something. If it dents it at all, anywhere, don't use it!

the pipe on my cannon was sollid pvc not cellular core and it still blew up i think it was just getting old and weak

I did what you told me to do to see if my 6" PVC was cellular core and its not. Im going to use that for a massive combustion...

NOt sure were to find 6" fittings though. Homedepot doesnt carry them.
